ive seen alot of hate towards americas professional sports and the atmosphere surrounding them.  I would just like to say that its true that the atmosphere surrounding pro sports here is not the crazed super intense feeling you get in SOCCER matches in europe.  THat is because pro sporting events are family friendly.  You are supposed to take the wifey and the kids to a ball game, buy some hotdogs and enjoy yourself.  Not get drunk, loud, belligerent and raise hell.

If you euros want to come to an american sporting event with a crazy atmosphere, come to big time college football games.  I promise you it is the same as the most intense SOCCER matches.

FALSE for a couple of reasons.
First, they didn't play in the semi-finals. The Semis was France vs. Portugal. Brazil got knocked out in the quarters.
Second, any match played by the host nation, Germany, was crazier. I went to the Germany vs. Argentina quarter-final, which Germany won on PKs. It was so crazy. The game was constant singing, jumping, and frantically waving German flags. I also remember the train ride back, when there wasn't enough room to shake your leg and everyone sang "54, 74, 90, 2006!" And the "public-viewings" on the streets of Berlin always reached highest attendance when Germany was playing.

you went to the rosebowl to see UW and Wisconsin play im guessing?  thats not even close to the atmosphere of a regular season game.  Its a bowl game played thoasands of miles from the fan  base. 

I saw Chelasea play Club America at Stanford 2 years ago and the stadium wasn't close to full...catch my drift?

you contradict yourself.

When you went to see Chelsea play Club America, that is similar to him seeing UW play Wisconsin. Club America sucks, and you saw them play in Stanford. Stanford is not in Europe.

See the contradiction?

i was equating him seeing the rosebowl to me seeing that soccer match.  Both were not even close to how crazy the normal games are. 

so he has no room to say one is crazier than the other.  I have been saying college football is comparable in atmosphere.

haha I'm not that old.

last time UW played wisconsin I'm pretty sure was a longgggg time ago.

I went in '04 and saw USC Michigan. a buddy of mine's Dad is a huge SC guy and so he took us down there for the game. so Yes I have seen a big time college game.

This is all stupid anyway.

anyone remember a couple world cups back where someone from brazil had an own goal, and made them lose the game.  i believe when the player got back home to brazil he was there maybe 48 hours and he was killed.

I know, sorry, but the World Cup was in my home country, something that will only happen once or twice in your lifetime. The atmosphere was insane. Germany was more patriotic than it ever was. For the first time in my life, everyone was proud to wave a German flag. At night, the clubs were filled with people from all over the world, all in Berlin for the same place; to cheer for their country in the best game in the world. When Germany played Italy in the Semis, about one million people filled the streets for the public viewing. Best of all, Germany did better than everyone thought they would. Basically, it was a time I will never forget. So when people talk about WC 2006, I admit I'm kind of a dick because I want the facts to be straight.

And even the English Premier League games are pretty civilized affairs compared to the games in the lower leagues. Their stadiums still have terraces ie crowd is standing, and opposing fans are usually seperated by metal fencing, and you usually have far more local rivalries. A derby game between two rival teams will be scary shit.

But I think Eastern European fans like the Poles, Czechs, Croatians etc and especially the Turkish are on another level altogether.

the only reason soccer has a better atmosphere is because you get nationalistic pride involved.  It's your country vs another and usually those two countries have a history of shit between them.  That's a completely different sense of pride then your university vs a rival.

either way american football is a better game all things aside.  sorry futball fans its the way it is.

i dont think that giants fans or patriots fans travel around the US just to see their team play... if you really love the sport and your team you follow them everywhere. Here in Chile, Argentina and Brazil if you cross ways with some fans from the other team you should start running, there is hate involved, but thats why you still go, cause its more than a sport

hurrrr durrr, the some of the most intense soccer rivalries are between teams of the same country so your point is irrelevant. I wont get into the 2nd part of what you said because you clearly don't know your shit and it wouldn't be worth the effort.

spoken like a true ignorant soccer hater. contrary to popular belief, soccer is not strictly an international sport. yeah, it gets the most publicity around WC or Euro time, but club leagues actually do exist. and even these matches, where there is zero nationalistic pride involved, get as crazy as some international matches.
