I agree that the music plus voiceovers kinda take away from the skiing and cinematography.

This film will be a worthy purchase for the talent (Abma, Hoji, Bushy, Harlaut, Godbout, Pettit, PK, etc.) alone in addition to MSP's staple stunning cinematography.

As for Shane, word is they might produce an entire film completely devoted to his life. Did you really think MSP wasn't going to chronicle the life of the greatest skier ever?

And, yes, Abma's rodeo 7 and Pettit's rodeo 7 at the end still has me shaking my head.

ohhhhh shut uppp..no one is denying the fact that the skiing in this teaser is absolutely sick, just they way MSP puts their shit together is just so damn boring and weird. i swear i've heard the same speech about how skiing is fun and blah blah blah in their movies for the past 5 years. if they would've cut the video at like 2 minutes with no talking i would've been far more impressed and inclined to buy the movie. but having it be that long and drawn out and boring with so many voiceovers it just really lost it's appeal.

Wow. Never before have I seen so much talent and sick riding in an edit/teaser that fails to draw an emotion. It did nothing for me. No creativity at all, simply following the same MSP formula. I enjoyed that formula for a couple years but now it's just old.

I'm not even close to letting myself get fooled into thinking this will be any different than the past 5 years' movies... I must say this is disappointing. I haven't enjoyed an MSP movie since Push. And Hit List didn't do anything for me either... I think I've just grown out of their movies.

That last shot was absolutely HUGE. That was the only sick part of the trailer.

Sorry for the negativity, but I wanted my opinion out here.

Well to be honest I do find some big mountain stuff repetitive, but I do love to see lines shredded. And the skiers that MSP has ski big mountain stuff so legit. That is not at all the reason I haven't enjoyed MSP stuff and didn't enjoy the trailer. I just haven't got good vibes from any MSP movies, no stoke from MSP movies, or anything really, in a while.

And yeah I do think lots of other movies are done with more creativity in all aspects than MSP. Tell me how this is creative? What sets it apart, other than the level of riding?

I don't even know if you were referencing me or just overall to the people who didn't like it, but I had something to say to it anyways.

To each their own. Nice, you like it. I don't. People are different. I'm not going to say it's bad, just that it doesn't do anything for me any more. I prefer, say, the nimbus crew. Every time I watch Idea I get all jittery on my seat and feel incredibly stoked about skiing and everything to do with it. Watching that movie makes my day better. Theory 3 gets me stoked as well. Just because I don't like MSP doesn't mean I'm a wannabe thug park rat.

Personally I would rather they have no rail tricks in the movie. 

That was clearly the best trailer I have seen this year.  Far better than level 1 or poor boyz.  I cannot wait to see the movie, lots of sick looking big mountain shots.

Yeah we understand we arent the only people who are going to be watching these movies, but we are most of the population who will be buying them. And on that note, this was a boring trailer. I like pow segments, and I like park and a healthy mix of the two but this wasnt interesting, which is what a trailer should be.

Theres allways been something about msp films for me that bugged me, and I think its that theyre a big mountain company, but they dont just stick to what they do well. They throw in some park segments with no surprises. Theres just never anything that makes me say "holly shit".

That whole video made me say holy shit.
I'm far more impressed by the pow and huge bc hits than I was by So Far So Hood.
That was so hyped up and it really didn't make me want to go skiing at all.

Refresh and pretty good both made me say holly shit because the level of skiing was just insane. This trailer was classic matchstick, a bunch of bc that you would only care about if you were riding it yourself, and some lame park shoots that barely entice a couple of east coasters to buy the movie. No thanks.

The level of skiing in this trailer is unbelievable. I like all of the trailers so far. If you don't like the voice overs you can always watch it with no volume.
My guess is the people who don't like this trailer:
1-Have never skied powder.
2-Have never jumped off a cliff.
3-Have never skinned up for a line.
4-Have seen every single matchstick movie and are looking for a different direction or feel.

The skiing in the MSP trailer made me say holy shit.  Lots of great big mountain shots, some big hits.  I saw nothing in Refresh that was even close to the level of MSP.  There were a couple of big mountain shots, which is an improvement, but nothing close to an MSP/TGR flick.  The level of skiing for those companies is just much better.

Watch whatever you want.  I will say Level 1 has gotten much better, the skiing just is not on the caliber of MSP.

For the record, no one I know who lives out west "would only care about it is they were riding it themselves."

It is interesting to see the difference between this site and TGR.  I don't know anyone who lives at a good mountain who would rather see park.

Well I live out west, ski whistler, baker, and revelstoke among other resorts, and MSP has still lost its novelty. You're right though, I'd rather watch BC stuff, but not big mountain unless it's out of the ordinary. I find that much of MSP's big mountain stuff is repetitive, so yes there are some really sick shots, but there are lots of normal or very similar shots as well. I'd rather see some creative park shoot edited in some unique way than a standard MSP movie.

I do see that they are the most mainstream of ski movie companies, other than Warren Miller I guess. MSP is doing a damn good job getting people stoked on skiing who don't know much about the sport. My dad picked up an MSP movie in sport chek I think a couple years ago. So I have no problem with what they are doing, it just doesn't stoke me out any more.




And to the guy who made a list of things that people who didn't enjoy the trailer would think. Yup, I'm the last one. But I have skied lots of pow, skinned for turns, dropped cliffs, etc.

Not even close...Teaser was sick and will sell to a huge market of skiers, well outside that of the 12-21 year old demographic this site targets...So the demographic on this site is bigger than that maybe but it is not their target audience..

That's a fair point about the style.  I like their flicks because of the skiing.  If MSP and poor boyz were to swap footage, I would prefer Poor Boyz.  Their flicks always had more of a Taylor Steele surf video quality, which I really like.  I watch MSP/TGR over PBP because of the type of skiing they use.  I wish PBP would make the conversion to primarily big mountain.

I understand how people say MSP shots get repetitive, but it is tough to progress big mountain skiing.  Just making it down most of those faces is insane enough.  It is really tough to revolutionize that genre.  Look at the MSP/TGR flicks from the turn of the century.  Many of the big mountain shots from back then would still hold up today.

I really hope they took him up in a heli.  The fact that he won the FWT really says a lot about
how great a skier he is.  He deserves to access some sick lines.  If the only footage they have of him is jibbing that will really be a let down.  He has a good argument to be the best all-around skier in the world.
