really!? what a badass.
He's definately not scared. Just try to picture being in his position. He has been at the top forever, he has proven himself to be the best time and time again. Most people would have stopped competing long ago really, I mean for the past how many years has he been considered the best in our sport? What has he had to prove by going out to Xgames and all these competitions year in and year out? He's already the most respected skier out there by most people. I say praise the man for continuing to compete and progress the sport year after year when really he had nothing left to prove. He already came back from one huge injury and dominated for years. I think if he really wanted to he could do it again... but why??? Why not recover and be able to ski for fun for as long as possible rather than risk getting yet another serious injury and be completely screwed
I think people are missing the point here: tanner isn't SCARED that maybe kids have moved past him, he's STOKED that kids have moved past him. seems to me that for the longest time, tanner has been comsumed by an obsession to progress the level of his beloved sport. i honestly think that nobody would be happier than him at the likes of xavier, dorey and rolland taking pipe to a new level.
After further evaluation, I think we can all agree that TANNER IS NOT SCARED haha.
Look.. the guy just loves skiing and he's gonna do what he wants to do... thats about all there really is to it and I think we all know that.
whatever the reasons he has, i think tanner has done enough in his time competing to retire from comps without losing his status in the industry. it is a good place for him to be, he seems happy with how his career is progressing. look at his past few seasons to see what part of skiing is getting his stoke up.
it would be rad to see him come back and compete should ski halfpipe be an event at the 2014 games, but that is 5 years from now, putting him up in the thirty range. 5 years off and a thirty year old body could make it tough, but as we've all see, if anyone can achieve what he wants, it's tanner.
psh. scared. your friend is an idiot. you should stop being friendly until he/she apologizes in an open letter to NS.
on another note...
nomen- when i lived in wisco up through college, i spent most of my time in the park (once they started buliding them, yes kids, i'm that old) because there was nothing else to do, unless we went to the up or something. now that i am in utah, the only time i go through the park is if it is on the way to where i want to go and i feel like a 360 train with some friends. park is fun, but powder is so much more of what i like about the sport.
interesting point, both the athletes you mention did the comeback thing.
with the halfpipe in 2014 a possibility (however slight), would you (the general ns you, not just you personally) like to see t hall get back on the horse for that?
jordan was never the player he was when he came back to play for the wizards, it would be sad to see that happen to t hall. even worse if he destroyed his credibility with a brett fucking favre move.
