Free Trip To France

K so i have the oppurtunity to go to france for three weeks in august, all expenses paid. but i have to work at my cousins house cause there renovating this 200 or something year old house for two weeks. and shes a slave driver.

i don't speak any french, and i'm not exactly culturally diversified, i don't know what to do but i feel like i might regret this deeply if i let this oppurtunity pass me by.

and i was wondering if there was glaciers with skiing, or a park nearby (within a 10 hour busride). they live in the south of france in a town called Pierrelatte.

Input?

(and sorry if you opened this thinking you could get a trip to france)

Search Les Deux Alpes, its pretty close by, the glacier their has one of the best parks on the world.

working two weeks in france and then getting a free week there is a great deal.

im going travelling to paris, italy and switzerland this august and ive been through france before and its pretty sick.

i dont know anything about glaciers there though.

I would probably suggest just ditching the idea of skiing, and just utilize that week or so in some villages or something in southern france. Lovely area that time of year. Not to mention Pierrelatte has good proximity and access to areas to the south, and west, that are quite swell. I would contend that it would be more enriching and worthwhile than trying to get a few days in the alps. Having done both things myself, the latter option (skiing and going into the mountains) ends up being costlier, more time consuming, and less memorable in the long run (not to say skiing and getting into mountains isn't memorable, but its impact seems to get diminished slightly akin to common things like skiing domestically, albeit different of course).

dude, that's not even a question. go the fuck to france.  personally, i wouldn't ski in august though.  there's way more things you could be doing that are much more easily accessible.  like enjoying the virtual lack of a drinking age.

Yeah Brett I told you! Honestly, you would be the most rediculous person ever not to go. Also, you should ask your aunt if you could bring a friend. Now that i think about it I would probably pay for part of it like you said earlier.

I went to france for 3 months last spring it's beautiful even if you dont get to ski 2weeks work for a week of travle sounds pretty good no?

you should absolutely do it. the fact that you're not culturally diversified is more reason to go, not reason to bail. everyone should have some level of exposure to a foreign culture at some point. i would also strongly encourage you to not plan your trip around skiing. if it works out, great, but you should really make seeing as many things as possible a priority given your limited time. oh, and in response to all the OMFG FRENCH GIRLS posts, don't plan on just sauntering into france and having girls throw themselves at you because you're from north america, because unless you're god's gift to this earth and make brad pitt look like smeagel, it probably won't happen. european girls like european guys. it's a sad fact of life.
