Ford, even though they have shitty cars, are still selling cars, therefor, they dont need the money. GM just has too many shitty car brands that arent making making any money for the company.

they sucked GM dry.
But Ford, I've found our 97 explore to be incredibly reliable, much more so than our 2000 camry. The explore has like 340,000 miles on it. The camry has almost 300,000, but has had to be fixed more.
Ford also used their money better.

Im sick of all of the hate toward car brands lets be real are american car companies produce workmanship that is identical you can judge a company by one explorer made 12 years ago or by a camary made 9 years ago there are way to many varibles in that time frame to break it down to the manufactures fault. Saying Ford is better mad then GM is like saying moment is better than armada there the same quality

Oh and as for gas guzzling. It was supposed to get 18 miles/gallon when we bought it and now even though its old as shit, it gets 20. Our 05 toyota highlander which was supposed to get 23 only gets 19.

Because they were smart. Instead of introducing new gas guzzling SUV's into the market, they cut production of things like the Excursion, redesigned the Focus (which is killing it in Europe) have some Hybrid automobiles, got rid of Mercury and liquidated all of there assets. That leaves them with currently approximately 29 billion dollars of cash on hand and 12 billion dollars worth of credit. Because of this they did not have to take handouts from the government and self sustain furthering the publics trust in Ford as a company and making them more comfortable with buying a Ford. They cut the fat plain and simple and while there is still quite a bit they could still cut, they have obviously played this much better than GM or Chrysler.

Most opinions about car manufacturers are just based on personal experience anyways, some people could have great experiences with Fords all their lives and others like my family could end up with two pieces of shit in a row and never buy ford again, but that doesn't make all fords pieces of shit.

union contracts were certainly not the only thing, though a part of it. they also just made poor buisness decisions
ford invested and got a lot more loans BEFORE things got shitty, and thus have been able to hold up considerably better.
as for your car, older camrys rape everything. i have a 93 that has had nothing but scheduled maintanence, plus a lil bodywork where i found it necessary to run into something. but that was entirely my fault lol.
