welllllllll valley, besides the fact that I live there along with jen, burlington is home to some fine glass shops, a candy store, and burlington bay cafe, which has argubly the best bbq chicken wrap I've ever had.
you never need to think of date ideas - all you really gotta do is go to the water front during sun set. north beach is super fun while the weather is still warm. we have fall sessions at leddy which are always spectactular and give you instafriends. driving through the notch during the foliage season is a must-do.
in the winter you can drive 7min to burton factory and session there all night if you didnt have time during the day to shred stowe. stowe has free hot chocolate on fridays, so keep that in mind when shedueling classes spring semester.
other than that, you gotta remember the little everyday things...the epic friends you'll make, being able to walk everywhere downtown, being able to roll a spliff while sitting outside of a resturant on church street...out of the 2 years I've lived up there, I gotta say one of my favorite nights was just sitting on a friends porch drinking and watching the sunset and the people walking by.....its the little things, the character that burlington has that makes me love it up there.
all of those positives... i really did like my 4.5 years up there... i lived there year round, skied stowe over 100 days a year and jibbed everyday from september to december... plus longboarding is sweet and live music is fun.
CONS: its frickin cold... really cold... when its cold, its really really cold. teh wind off the lake sucks. . . . no real jobs after you're done school...... when it rains, its the most miserable place ever. (see comments about cold)
MORE CONS: Burlington is like a hippie / trustifarian / over privlaged college bubble of information... you're politics get screwed up from all the lefty news sources and neohippie professors. PLUS... the punk scene there is a joke. if you know this going in its fine, but people there take their "punk-ness" way to seriously. Fake ass record stores with fake ass punks.. fuck those people. (arguably the worse part for me)
MORE CONS: The Vermont Ski Scene... god i hope this has changed with the new people up there... cocky privlaged deuche knuckles... that's what i remember... learning tricks in the park was a pain in my nuts (i was terrible) with all the bullshit comments from strangers.
MORE CONS: the burlington vermont intersection rules...(not official) but when you get there you'll see... everyone lets everyone else go... its so fucking annoying.
MORE CONS: leaving.... leaving that town sucks after you've been there a while... cause you rejoin teh rest of the world.. where every person you interact with at least acts like they;re not high as shit. during your stay up there you'll feel really smart
I graduate in 2011. come visit next year if you can... I might be living in new zealand next spring but if you're ever around this fall let me know!
and those pics are awesome lev
