Knee Brace

First I did searchbar for this but couldnt find what I was looking for.

Ok so in January I tore my acl skiing, got a staph infection in the joint had to have another surgery was on an IV for 6 weeks. They gave me a 1% chance of regaining use of my leg but I beat that and have regained full motion (not allowed running or anything though because of more complications). Now they think I am going to have to have another surgery but I am getting a 2nd opinion until then they want to get me in a brace so I can do some stuff (run lift weights etc). This is the brace that I will have after my 3rd surgery as well so I will be skiing in it.

What I am looking for is a knee brace that has a short enough calf that I can wear it with my ski boots but it also needs to have a lockout extension on the hinge (when my knee straightens it grinds.. therapy and my family dr say my acl graft is prolly to long). I am having trouble finding one that has both the short calf and the lockout extension so if you have one or know of one let me know.

you'd have to look into it further, but i know Asterisk makes knee braces that are targeted to the action sports market.

my brother tore his this year as well....     and they gave him this really nice brace for any activies..   he has worn it skiing he said it pitched him a little but you can buy an accessori for it that make it so you wont get pintched!

Asterisk braces cant do extension lock.

The problem I am having is finding one with a short calf so it wont pinch skiing and the extension lock. I can find just the short calf model or just the extension lock no problem. But I want both of them.

Does anybody have the CTi brace that has the shorter calf length so it works better with your ski boot? Does that one have an extension lock. I can't seem to find if it does or doesn't on their website.

Yea, i have two custom Don joys, and they are great. the short calf is perfect with a boot, and they come with plugs to set the extension and contraction limits. they are unnoticeable skiing, and help tremendously. plus DJ has a killer warranty. I somehow managed to crack one of mine somehow, and had a new one within a week. theres a couple others that are really good too, but i cant quite remember their names. DJs are good shit tho.

that sucks about the knee man, sounds like a bitch with the infections and all. get better!

asterisks dont have extension lock?? are you sure? im pretty sure one of the best features of the asterisk knee protection system is the fact that you can change the allowable flex of the knee, even on its lowest setting the knee can not go beyond straight up and down. I would double check facts that you throw out there......

I looked at their website and it didnt mention it in their list of features. My PT actually wants to lock me at +10 not 0 so I need an adjustable one not just one that wont let me go past straight.
