Connecting a video camera to a new macbook?

since the new macbooks dont have a firewire port (retarded), what is the best way to get footage from your camera to a macbook? is there an adapter cord? i searched and couldnt find much. if anyone has a macbook and you have a good way to do this please let me know

as far as i know they stopped makin "mac boods" they are now all mac book pros and they all come equuiped with fire wire 800 port

Are you talking about a macbook or a macbook pro? Because the macbooks they're selling online have a firewire 400:

http://www.apple.com/macbook/specs.html

And the new macbook pros have a firewire 800 port:

http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs-13inch.html

You've probably been using the 400, so that shouldn't be an issue, but if you have the pro with the 800 port you can get an 800 to 400 adapter and you should be fine.

This is purely my speculation about what I could find online. If you aren't using either of these computers, post a link so we can see what your options are.

^pretty sure there was a generation of macbooks with no firewire.

Yeah he just needs to link us to his machine I guess. He said new so I just assumed he bought very recently.

ok so they dont have it on the apple site cause they just put out newer macbooks, but here is the same kind of one i have http://store.apple.com/us/product/FB466LL/A?mco=MjE0NDk5Mw. im not retarded and cant find it or something, there really is no firewire port.

my friend just got a new cam and has the same prob after two of my friends and i put in a combined 20 hours of research into finding a solution we now know this
- a lot of people say you cant get them to your mac
- you can buy a usb adapter but the quality is worse
- external hard drives seem to work but theyre 200 bucks and quality is probably worse
- you could upload them on another computer and export the clips to email and send them
- you could also upload them to another computer and use bluetooth
