How to make Imovies smaller

So I have Imovie HD (A couple softwares ago) and I have a movie thats 3 minutes long with a song thats 4 minutes long and its 16 GB. Its really stupid and I cant upload it anywhere because safari just crashes. Anyone know how to make it smaller?

couldn't you try to export it in a another fileformat? i've started iMovie once, but i've never tried it so i dont know if this is an option or not.

I think I just need the new one because this makes a 55 second movie 190 MB, im getting it in a couple of weeks so i'll just wait until then, thanks anyways

theres got to be some kind of program to download to compress it. check out the export settings in imovie and im sure someone on here knows of a compression program for mac.
