Anyone with knowledge of shrooms...

today while mowing the lawn i noticed a mushroom growing in the grass. it was maybe 8 inches tall and was orangeish/tanish on top. the top was smooth and the stem was about as big around as a quarter. i accidentally clipped it with the lawn mower deck and part proke off. the mushroom almost instantly turned a dark blue where it was broken. these traits lead me to believe that it might be psilocybe azurescens, but im not expert and dont want to end up ingesting some deadly look-alike. i saved the mushroom but i only have about half of it left and its been about 3 hours so the blue has turned a little more greyish/blackish. i have pics but they are from my cell phone and arent that great. any feedback would be awesome.

actually i was asking if anyone with any decent knowledge of shrooms could perhaps tell me if it is indeed psilocybe, since it turned a dark blue when i hit it...

You know I had that Idea once....me and my friends were out of trees, so we went into the woods and picked a shitload of different shrooms. We brought them back to my friends house, and tried to look them up on de interwebz. When we couldn't properly id them, we just said fuck it and ate them anyway. They tasted like shit, and I did not trip even a little bit. I don't know what I ingested that day, but i have tried the real thing since then and they did NOT look anything like what we found. I think I almost died that day, I wouldn't eat it unless ur sure.

some "yard" shrooms have psyclobin in them however the chemicals that made them grow may have made it dangerous (fertilizers stuff like that) also dangerous mushrooms can produce psyclobin in the right  conditions.

dont do it man odds are it would just make you sick and probably give you a headache

azies grow cold (50 f) and only on alder wood so i would seriously doubt that you found one. They are also not that tall. Psilocin and Psilocybin both go blue when exposed to oxygen but so do a handful of other poisonous alkaloids. My advice would be to get on wiki and look at pics of the known psychedelic mushies and compare. But what fun is life without a little risk so you should probably just eat it and hope for the best.

the mushroom was the only one out of several others in the yard (and by yard im talking like 2-3 acres) to look like it did. it was also the only one to bruise blue, none of the others even bruised. none of the other mushrooms were even in a close proximity to this one, but i i just thought id try to see if any others bruised. The blue one was growing in sandy soil in a relatively shaded area, if that helps. and upon further inspection, it was only about 4-5 inches tall, rather than my original 8 inch estimate. the top of the mushroom was about 3-4 inches in diameter. and now that the mushroom has been sitting for a while it is a very dark brown with the blue bruising still visible in spots, although much darker now.

Don't eat the shroom without extensive research of it. I don't know much but I am pretty postive you have to compare shroom spores to ensure that it isn't poisenous. Many shrooms can reseamble each other except one will make you trip balls and the other will kill you two weeks later when your liver fails or some shit like that. Know your shit, buy a mushroom field handbook, those will help.

Magic Mushrooms bruise blue when you pick them. Magic Mushrooms drop black or purple spores once the veil breaks.

Psilocybn doesn't grow everywhere, but it does grow in manure.

Even with a handbook, positively identifying it would still be impossible.  Eating it would put you in just as much danger as buying some from a street dealer, but regardless there's no way it's worth the risk man.

to thoes who say eating wild mushrooms is retarted i think you should learn a little bit before you judge.  I WONT eat mushrooms from the store but i think shingle( not sure if thats the real name for them or not) murshrooms are delisous sauted up.  They are the white ones that grow out of the side of dead logs for the most part.  I have had them a number of times and im still fine.
