So last March, I bought a new ski jacket, because I was using an Arc'teryx shell that was tech as hell, but had no steeze and was like paper thin, so it wasn't warm.  I never wore it and never took the tags off because my season was already over.  So I put it on a week ago and realize it's WAY too small.  It's a size small, I need a large.  So I list it on NS (check my FS/FT thread, got some other stuff too), and nobody bites.  So I just listed it on eBay, and here's where the shit could hit the fan.

You see, I made the reserve 87 dollars (on a brand new $200 jacket, not bad).  So worst case, I could make only 90 dollars off it.  I need at least $125 for a new jacket.  And I need to buy it before camp, which I leave for in 2 weeks.  My parents are already pissed that I spend what little money I have on new ski stuff (even though the only things I've bought are boots to replace my boots that are 2 SIZES TOO BIG, and a helmet to replace the one that weighs a ton and falls off my head). 

If I tell them that I went over their heads and sold the jacket that I begged them for, and then ask them to chip in for a new jacket (as a gift for owning the shit out of my final exams, which I did), they'll string me up on our chimney and let the crows take me.  So if this jacket does sell, how do I pitch it to them?

They're already extremely hesitant to let me go to camp, and my mom said that if I was even the slightest bit of an asshole about anything she wouldn't let me go.  I need to play this perfectly.  Any suggestions?

this isnt deep shit, deep shit is at least a criminal charge, this is bullshit, if your jacket is just a fucking shell wear some layers under it and you will be fine, either way it seems like your gonna get to go to camp so your a lucky SOB, be glad your not a child in africa

Nonono, I didn't buy the huge boots or the helmet.  Those were old, my dad insisted that the boots fit when they didn't, and the helmet was just weird.  I bought boots and a helmet to replace the bad ones.  But yeah I'll probly just bring the money to camp, but then the problem is that the thing is through Paypal, so the money goes through my mom's account.  Maybe I can just say I sold some old gear of mine and not mention what, but that may not work

It's summer right? so you're not gonna be skiing in a blizzard. just rock a steezy hoodie or something and deal with getting a new jacket there or later in the summer.

That's what I thought but then I saw all the pics from kids at camp and everyone is wearing jackets and it got me worried that I didn't have one.  But for now yeah I'm gonna get a big-ass hoodie and wear that

dude this is not deep shit. deep shit would be your parents went out of town, and now theres gonna be 50+ people at ur house the day before they get back. but fuck it. it's my last summer before college so i gotta have fun.

but back to the jacket thing. don't even worry about it. worst case you go out and buy like 6-8 tall tees and wear those when you ski. and if it rains they get even taller. thats prolly my favorite part of the tall tee.

you owned your exams, are going to summer camp and you have a $200 jacket, sell the jacket for the $80, buy some dope ass tall hoodies and dont worry about a jacket

man if the biggest fear you have in life is your parents being pissed you lost them $110 your in a good place my man.

My recommendation, goto champs or foot locker, cops a nice hoody, and rock that.

Your going to a camp where your going to have to wear sunscreen and the average temp will prolly be around 60-70. You don't need a jacket, and "steeze" is not something your gear is gonna bring you, that's something you will learn over time.

also...brociety and foot locker has SICK hoodies for like 30
i would invest in a ton of tall tees too.

No matter what it says, there is ALWAYS a final value fee. Maybe there isnt a listing fee, but there is ALWAYS a final value fee. Trust me, ive spent months trying to cheat my way out of it. The worst thing about it is, they split the fee into small monthly payments, giving the illusion that its not that bad of a fee, when really they are charging you 12 bucks to sell a jacket.

the only solution for this crisis is for someone to just buy the jacket for 200 on ebay.  I think its the only right thing to do.  If no one does this then he might not have a jacket to go to camp, and since he has no job he has to sit around all day and think about it.

If someone did that, I would love them forever (no homo) and owe them so much, but I don't want to put that on anyone.  It's nobody else's responsibility, it's my mistake and I have to work it out, I am just looking for suggestions on how to do that.  But that would be awesome.

Oh, and just to address this now,

I know this isn't a huge problem that I have, and I know that so many people have it way worse off than me.  This is not the worst problem in my life, not by a long shot.  I just thought you guys would have some ideas on how to get out of it.  I'm really thankful that I'm going to camp at all, and if I have to ski shirtless and freeze my nipples off, so be it.

The only thing I'm worried about is how irrationally pissed my parents are going to get that I did this.  They may not let me go, which would suck.  My mom has done nothing but be mad at me for the last 3 weeks, my dad seriously hates me (I know a lot of people say this, but I'm not kidding), and my mom just read the waiver sheet yesterday and is scared shitless now because it basically says that if they're grossly negligent if I get hurt and I die because of it, there is nothing she can do.  She doesn't want to let me go, so I can't afford to fuck up or she'll flip three shits.  You see what I'm saying?

Wait......so you (your parents) are dropping over 2G's to send you to camp......and the 115$ for a jacket is a big deal? Am I missing something here?

By the way....you won't need a jacket there anyways. Wear a hoodie. Honestly, out of my five years at the glacier, there was ONE day where it was actually cold and you could justify wearing a jacket.

dude i know how you feel im in huge deep shit to. my parents just bought me a brand new porsche so i could drive to camp because i dont like flying and they also bought me these nike dunks with a wu tang symbol on them and i accidently ripped a shoe lace and they are gonna freak out at me and im afraid that i wont be able to go to camp wearing steezy shoe laces because i saw pics and everyone else is wearing steezy shoe laces so im really scared......Jokes =]

the staff sale is usually the second night of camp at windells (are you goin to windells, sorry i didnt read any of the comments) and you can buy some nice stuff off the coaches

i bought a really nice volkl jacket from liam downey last summer for like 40 dollars (it's also in turbo and freeskier)

maybe it's just me, but i'd think this could have all been cleared up if you just told your parents there was a fuck-up with the size and you needed to figure something out before you went to camp. call it a guess, but i'd wager they would have worked with you on that. now, you just look like a little prick who sold something they bought you without talking to them about it first.

Please read this before flaming the shit out of me:

This is NOT a huge problem in my life.  Not at all.  It is not nearly my biggest problem.  I'm not saying that everyone should feel bad for me, and really this is not my biggest concern about camp at all.  I've been visualizing my first 5 in my head for 3 months, non-stop.  It's a small concern that I knew my parents would overreact to, so I thought you guys could help me.  I don't think it's a big deal, I just know the 'rents will think it is.  Please stop ripping the shit out of me, I know how this thread comes off but that's really not how I meant it. 

Okay?  Does that set it all straight?
