ok, so i was watching the world extreme championships of skiing etc etc at kirkwood a month back or so, and ended up drinkin some beers with this guy who had moved out from new hampshire and was living in a tent all winter so that he could ski tahoe, and kirkwood got 489 inches of snow. he worked odd jobs as a carpenter to get by. if this isn't dedication, i don't know what is, and on top of that, he's a fucking good skiier. just thought i'd throw that out there.

i forgot one more thing, i was skiing with svhucker at aspen highlands this winter and he shit himself 'cuz it was too steep. he was sideslipping it. poor baby.

woodsucka, my mohawked comrade - I was not side slipping; I was side STEPPING. Stepping is much more hardcore than slipping. maybe if aspen didn't suck so much and it actually snowed there there woulda been stuff to ski on.

not to mention it was my 2nd day on the big bandits . . . not that I'm making excuses . . . you were doing ok til that huge wipeout halfway down. hahaha

that 'huge wipeout' was due to the fact that I decided to hop off a tree, and ended up hitting some shitty crud, which means i was actually pushing myself to go harder and bigger while you were side'stepping' (or pussyfooting) over the rocks because you didn't want to blemish your beautiful 'big' bandits, which, word on the street says are by far the biggest sticks in your possesion if you get my drift

Ya im with you on that one i live in mass and i made a rail this year and i got to hit it ONCE, ONCE!!!! so i dont see how everyone out west can bitch bout the conditions a good day for us is being able to ski. But still i dont wanna sound like a bitch the east coast scene rocks.

I love going out West and asking them the conditions and when they say its icy I just laugh. I come back after some skiing and ask them where the ice is. They say everywhere, you know where your ski slips! HAHAHA I learned to ski out east and know ice. Its a great experience for us all, locking in the edges with all your weight and watching and hearin your skis chatter like crazy. Half the time you lose and edge in the turn and take a spill on the ice. One punishing landing. AHhh ice, it makes all other conditions seem awesome!

My boy Eithan Martin from Mt. Snow back East got accepted at Sierra Nevada for college, and drove all the way out there by himself during the winter in a car with no heater. HE drove almost the WHOLE WAY in his full ski get-up, not to mention goggles, hat, and gloves. That's core for me...

I love the east coast scene....especially the massachusetts one....which consists of blue hills and wachusett....people have it easy out west...but i wouldnt trade new england for anything

When i went out west it was to park city and canyons and there parks SUCKED!!!! I rather ski our icy parks here on the east coast than ski that shit parks i skied in utah. But that is just utah i know whistler and all the peaks out there have incredible parks but i cant say that for park city.

no it wasn't icy; it was a south facing gully in highlands bowl. there just wasn't much snow to cover up the rocks and little trees.

yeah, ok, dvda is hardcore, but who wants to share with another guy? and what's this talk about what's real ice or not? i have skiied shitty ice all over, and i can't say any of it was fun, i'd rather not know real ice and know real powder. (you know, the three foot deep kind)

so let me get this straight - you go to Utah and you care more about how good their park is than the snow and like, actually skiing the kick ass terrain out there? stupid park rats - there's more to skiing than just park. If you go out west to ski, than go out west to SKI, don't hang out in the park your whole life.

Hardcore is
1. Skiing all day every day no matter the weather
2. working 2-3 jobs at one time most of the time the night shift so you can ski all day
3. Living in a house with no running water in the woods just cause its cheaper an u can spend more money on skiing
