Summer set up help?! please and thank you +karma

ok for every one who is about to say use search bar....go fuck yourself.. lol and for the ppl who say use the cults ive already done that and ims till waiting for them to accpet me... but i have the set up and rail all done.... but the only thing i need help with is the acutly down ramp. what do i use for wood or how do i set it up... ne tips or tricks? what type of material should i use?.. does ne one have ne pics they would like to share...please help and thanky ou for the help...

for the material you slide on use artificial turf or even better the plastic fencing( like the orange stuff they use at construction sites) and make the jump on a decent hight because the jump is sometimes sketchy to pop off of. I will try to find more ideas and stuff but atm thats all i can think of.

any wood will work for the in-ramp i made mine out of old pallet wood and a few peices of plywood, the jump is a bit trickier but make sure its not to steep and its very gradual up to the rail, smothness is key!

Use a flat peice of plie wood for the slope. just go for when acually building the lauch ramp tho nothing to bad can go wrong. and if your nailing or stapling the lawn turf down make sure u do it on the far out side so your skis arnt sliding over fucking nails, or staple. woo

Its tough to do urban style summer setups because u get less control on the turf. Make the jump gradual and about the same height as the rail.

TIP- So I had mine all set up on a hill. My rail if 15 feet long and 18 inches high so i need my takeoff to be kinda high. Well the board for the takeoff was real sketchy and too steep and I lost tons of speed and now I have a black and blue hip. This weekend I am fixing it so that the takeoff is not high and it just runs along with the hill. Not goin up but more just going straight off instead of up.

spark notes: Make sure you will get enough speed, and make your kicker on a little of an angle as you can. raise the platform of the takeoff if you have to.

Mine is built from a 4rth of a tree stump a nail and a piece of pvc, no run-in so really anything will work.

here is my normal drop-in ramp and i am currently building an urban ramp, which i will reveal in its own thread as a massive CLAIM on Friday afternoon. lol

Cost me about $25, $15 for turf and $10 for the usual 5lbs. box of nails i use everytime i build something. Use exterior galvanized nails if you want a good durable nail. OR if you are using screws, make sure they are exterior coarse threaded screws.

personally from using both astroturf and tarp i would suggest using tarp. just the stuff you buy at like home depot or lowes. only because of less friction.

    Ramp Wise - i just made 2 jumps bacically and just make a table like thing and connect one of the jumps to it and then make a flat part (i was lucky, mines on a slight slope) just some plywood with support and then the jump.

And then you can ride all you want :)

what works really well is if  you get turf and orange construction fence and put the turf underneath it. its not too fast not too slow. and  also make sure the transition from the in ramp to the jump is very gradual otherwise u will loose all ur speed

My rail is 10 ft long and if i put water, turf and fence, the dimensions are ok. My rail is about the same height of the jump

at this race i just competed in i launced off a berm into one of those fences i ditched the bike so and the bike hit the fence and rolled i cliped the top with my boots and got hurt pretty bad. i have like back compression and i broke my toe from the toe slamming into the end of the boot. completely unraletd? i know. just thought id tell you guys.

you'll probably want the drop in to be at least 6ft high and make sure you make a gradual transition to the bottom that way you dont lose speed. I cant really help you as far as a design goes because my drop in's still on the drawing table.

you should use 4x4's for the four corner posts. make a frame on those, using 2x4's and use support beams on the top platform and some diagonal support beams on the frame. this makes it super stable. when i draw up my designs which coudl be by the end of the week. pm me and ill show you scans of my blueprints.

its just white plastic fencing (+water) with 1/2 pvc on both sides to keep you pointed in the right direction.  its a little higher than it looks so sends ya down pretty quick

make sure that the ramp off the tower isn't too steep or else you'll lose alot of speed. the best way to do it is to make a 30-60-90 triangle.

there is more plywood and support boards under the carpet on the steep section of the drop in. and plywood on the top. hope this helps

tower is 5.5 ft and the ramp goes down at about 38 degrees, i think thats what it is anyway. it gives me the perfect amount of speed. i dont remember my specs on the tranny or kicker
