Wood pallets

So i've heard talk of people picking up wood pallets from stores and mall and returning them for like $3 a piece. Well I'm broke as fuck and tomarrow I have nothing to do so it think I'm going to give it a shot. The only problem is where do you sell them? I searched google and it sounds like agood way to earn some spare cash but I jsut don't know where to return them so I came to you NS.

the only place I've ever seen them is stacked up behind my school.
I know that's unhelpfull but like check behind stores and shit.

its true. I saw some like True Life I'm An Illegal Immigrant and some guy did it. You have to go to like wallmart and other stores, im pretty sure they are the wood thing that are under boxes so forklifts can pick them up.
its technically stealing, and you can get in trouble, like this guy would leave them if he saw cameras or anything.
you take them to a recycling place im pretty sure, like your local recycling plant

Idk about selling them but they make an amazing bonfire, 20 or 30 pallets stacked like a pyramid its amazing huge fire.

yeah but u cant just lift a pallet like that, it depends which ones but some of them are mad heavy and u need to be 2 to lift them so you gotta be prepared and I don't know any place that gives their pallets...

you just need to find a recycling  center near you that deals with scrap wood.... then your set. Definitely hit up grocery stores because nearly all stock is placed on pallets.

nah I work at a grocery store adn we def. dont give the pallets 1) it would be a bitch to move like trough the whole store to give clients and 2) we gotta give them back to the place that sends us the food

Pallets are just scrap pine thrown together so they aren't that heavy at all.  I don't know who would buy them though since you can get them out of dumpsters and stores for free.  You would spend more in gas I think.

clearly i work at one as well. i never stated they give them away. i simply said go to one to get them, i dont know how he's going to get them but thats his best bet. As for the weight.... they are not nearly heavy enough to need 2 people to move them.... its scrap wood, not concrete.

my neighbour does it.. he gets broken pallets, fixes em, and sells them again. but he has thousands of them and sells by the tractor trailer load

pallets, or "skids," are used in the freight shipping industry. they are made of wood, and can come in various sizes, but the standard skid is 40x48 and weighs roundabout 40-50 lbs.

they are slotted on two out of four sides so that pallet jacks and forklifts can be slid underneath and used to pick up the freight on the skids.

many many industries use them, but they are often re-used many times until they are so broken they are not able to withstand the weight that would be packed onto them.

if you are able to find a bunch of skids, the places to resell them at are usually located near trucking centers of larger cities.

for example, there is a place in salt lake city near california ave and redwood road that buys/sells/repairs skids, but if you are looking to make money doing it, you will need a lot of skids to make it worth your while.

also, don't go to trucking terminals and try to steal them. most are well protected by guards and electric fences, and if you get caught you will be prosecuted. they take that very seriously.

nobody is going to give you pallets. usually places that have them do not own them or have paid for them and will reuse them. i work at a precast concrete factory, owned by my father, and we reuse pallets until they are destroyed. he also pays for them all, and does not buy from randos. i doubt anyone will buy them from a kid with a car stuffed full, everyone will know they are stolen.

YEa my friend gave me the idea from the true life show haha. I'm not going to steal them I'd ask for them but I see them everywhere but jsut dont know where to return them.

yeah, pallets aren't the easiest thing to just move around. they aren't heavy (some can be but no one is going to be letting you have those ones because they're owned by transport companies and they take them back) but its not like you can fit one inside your car. maybe if you have a wagon and fold the seats down.

but seriously, get a job. all the running around trying to make $3 doesn't add up. I think you'd end up making a loss overall.

call a few landscaping businesses.  they may have a few left over from this spring.
mulch bags come on pallets, and a decent sized landscaping company will go through ALOT of mulch.
also, craigslist that hoe.
