Free video editing sofware ?

is there any such thing as free video editing soft ware i can download off line ... i got a camera for my birth day but since its a  sony handy cam with a hard drive my mac cant read the camrea wich is wicked gay.. so i have a dell and want to get some editing software for that...  so any  link or directions of some sort  to get free editting software would be greatly helpful

depends on how legal you wanna be. you can get just about any program you want if you look.

Well, for starters, since your Dell will be running windows it should come with Windows Movie Maker.  Yes, I'm actually recommending Windows Movie Maker, because it's simple and will get you into using a program, organizing your clips, using effects, and thinking creatively.  Go to the start menu -> programs -> accesories and wahlah!

Eventually, that will get old, though; once that happens do this:

At this point, you're definitely not ready for Premiere, so stick to WMM and when you feel you've got both the technical and artistic aspects of editing down, move on up.

ok that helps alot more .. only problem is i killed my dell a lil while ago and today i finally got it runnig but im just using the free version of linux until i can find out what happeend to my windows

u can get s whole bunch of different softwares for free for 30 days; trial downloads...if tht helps...

you can get some cracked software of the pirate bay, but otherwise count on dropping a hundo.  windows movie maker, at least for xp, is the worst program i have used in my life. 

take a look at premiere elements.  it doesn't cost too much, and there are a lot of cracks for it.
