BEST SNOW ASSULT VEHICLE

Like the title says im wondering what the best snow vehicle is, by way of everyones opinions, oh since its my first car i would kinda like to keep it toward cheaper cars, my budget is around $4000, but im not looking for ad's, im wanting to know what your current or favorite snow vehicle and list  a couple of reasons why, maybe a picture or two, but i've already started looking at audi's like a 98 A4 1.8T im just a little concered about reliability, also looked at subaru imprezas, really like those, so just name off something that i might have missed.

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ftw.  Make sure to get the full time 4wd, it's money.  I prefer the v8 1999-2004, it gets the same mileage as my v6, give or take 1 MPG.

If you get a 98 or older make sure it is the beast, 5.9 v8.  Again the mileage is worth it for double the power.

Not to fancy but it is the cheapest, most capable vehicle for the money BY FAR without lift kits etc.  I can fit 33's on mine with the tow package with no lift and it does anything I ask, surprises me all the time.

i got a 98 forester i love that car, i wish it was 5 speed but for the price i got it for i cant complain (4000+tax and all that) with 60k on it.  The outback has more legroom for the person in the back seat but the forester has more head room (choose your preferance).  The only time i have gotten stuck was when i was on 1 wheel in a snowbank from drifting in a parkinglot. i would highly recomend one to anyone

yeah, dope as hell for conquering slippery roads, however when driving in actual snow more than 4 inches deep, you are fucked

True, but unless you want to go off roading, most roads will have less than 5"-ish of snow on them, which I believe is my clearance. I've never gotten high centered or stuck on anything. And if it's just fresh pow on the road it doesn't even matter. I've gone into parking lots to drift with deep snow that will be flying up over the hood and it's still fine.

huh, well thats pretty sick. like i drive a pretty low impreza, and it is sooo ill on slippery roads and some snow, but there are some things that my tahoe just rapes in and my impreza could never do. like just mobbin off the road into some deep as shit, and driving up over snowbanks

as several others have said, i would suggest subaru, i live in north end boise (for anyone wondering) and i think its safe to say 90% of my friends have a subaru thats theirs, or a family car and ive never heard one complaint. there reliable, and most of them have AWD and are easy to find ski racks for

where do you get them. iv seen them, could have gotten one fo free but missed out and it got crushed. still ran too. are they still made new??




oh and 93 dodge grand caravans with winter tires do surprisingly well, seriously.

but then again almost anything with winter tires and a half assed driver will handle snow

nice. but id rather a gt-four with a top mount inter cooler, better in winter cause you dont have to deal with freezing up if snow is getting frozen up and jammed into your intercooler, it will fuck it over for the summer and be less effective for cooling needs on the turbo. then again i assume that isnt your exact car and i think the stock front end has less "openess" to it and a car bra would go a long way in protecting it, and lets face it its winter so your intecooler doesnt need all that air flow anyway, and furthermore if its snowy and icy driving under normal driving conditons your turbo should barly be spooled up. im more of a eagle talon tsi fan (yes i know they are fundamentaly the same car built on the same platform with mostly just cosmetic changes)

Thanks, and it is actually my car. I never have any problems with the FMIC in snow. It will get snow on it, but it has never caused any problems. It has been through a lot of crazy weather and has no cracking and still cools as good as new. And my turbo gets worked when it's snowy outside! It's the only time I can safely/easily drift. It is too much fun to avoid.

bmw e30 325ix, such a good snow car, super tough, plenty of clearance, plus better handling than anything else for the money. it beat the best audi and the best subaru from that period in snow in every category. their awd system for it was and still is better than most anyone elses. plus its very reliable.

a4's are expensive to fix, im selling my 99 saab 9-3 140,000 miles just put a lot of money into it so its running like a carm, 3250 if you want it

I sir am truly jealous.  fabulous car. id like to get a talon or eclipse AWD but they are getting older now and finding one that hasn't been driven hard will be pretty tough. my next choice would be a GT-Four. im such a fan of rally cars and rallying and just turbo AWD in general haha. When i get my electrical ticket il treat myself
