BEST SNOW ASSULT VEHICLE

Like the title says im wondering what the best snow vehicle is, by way of everyones opinions, oh since its my first car i would kinda like to keep it toward cheaper cars, my budget is around $4000, but im not looking for ad's, im wanting to know what your current or favorite snow vehicle and list  a couple of reasons why, maybe a picture or two, but i've already started looking at audi's like a 98 A4 1.8T im just a little concered about reliability, also looked at subaru imprezas, really like those, so just name off something that i might have missed.

Well my toyota rav4 handles amazing in the snow. Far better, i shit you not, than my moms subaru outback, or my dads tacoma, with cement blocks in the bed and a plow on the front. But then again rav4s are wicked gay.

oh, and jeep cherokee gets my vote. super cheap, decent on gas, great in snow. I have 2 of them,i paid 500 for one, i lifted it, it has 350,000kms, i beat on it, and still runs strong. Go for a cherokee that has the highoutput 4.0L though which is found in a 91 and newer. my other one has the h.o 4.0L and it has much more power than the pre 91 cherokee.

For $4k you've got some pretty good choices. I've had a 2 door '96 Subaru Impreza for about 4 years, which has been a BEAST of a car. I've pulled multiple cars out of ditches with my suby in the winter, the biggest of which was a pathfinder armada big ass SUV which was ass backwards off the side of a parking lot up at Jay Peak.

I'm shopping for a new one though, I'm looking for a Suby Outback, mabye a Forester.

I also like the look of the older Volvo cross country wagons with AWD.



The key here is AWD and good snow tires...... and low mileage on the car when you buy it. Try to stay under 100,000 miles on a used car when you buy it, you'll be glad you did..... bought my Suby with 88k on it and now it's got 205k on it, and it's starting to bite the dust.


Other cars to look at would be the Audi/VW's you mentioned, look at some of the old Nissan Pathfinders or Xterras, older Land Rovers are beastly snow trucks...... Buddy of mine has a Toyota Rav4 which is AWD and is pretty dope.





Oh, one more thing. Get a 5 speed. It will save your ass in the winter if you learn how to drive it properly. Automatics in snow are bad news bears.

My dad has a 4.2 Audi A6, he has no doubt about driving the Sea to  Sky to Whistler every weekend no matter the weather, but then again his tires are $4000 alone..

Eh.... I drove my Grand Cherokee and also tried a Commander and I really didn't like the feel of the Commander. It's a great car don't get me wrong, I didn't need third row seating etc...

They both have the same 4x4 system Quadra trac I,II and Quadra Drive

I've taken on water that went above my hood as I entered it (it was a dumb idea but I couldn't stop in the road, the roads were flooded) and driven through 3+ feet of snow without a concern of getting stuck.

They're jeeps, they're awesome haha.

I would suggest a subaru outback or forester. They have better clearance than an impreza i think. also something to think about. while a forester is higher., word on the street is that an outback is actually bigger inside.

and i would get a 5 speed just cuz manual is way more fun anyways.

Any jeeps are good. Try and find an older Chevy S10 4x4. Those things are fucking beasts in snow, great on gas too.

But regardless of what you get, get good ass tires. Your car/truck wont handle anything without good traction.

i would suggest going with a subaru outback, or an impreza, the audis are nice but they cost an arm and a leg for repairs.  jeeps are good while they work, but thats not very long
