North Korea vs USA (basically)

like wtf?  What do they seriously think they can keep getting away with? 

I'm Canadian, but I want to see some good old American ass-kicking.

For those who have no clue what I'm talking about because you're playing too much Call of Duty 4:

North Korea is evil and communist.  They tested a nuke (underground) in 2006 against United Nations rules.  They did it again in may, and launched a "satellite" (really a long-range missile, which got halfway to Hawaii and hit the ocean).  They aren't allowed to fire any kind of missiles.  They are currently planning to launch another towards Hawaii, and have a freighter sailing across the Pacific with bad shit on board.  They like to stir the pot so that the world gives them economic aid (money) which they just spend of their fucking military, but it's been going too far lately.

I AM LAUGHING WHENEVER I READ THE NEWS BECAUSE THEY ARE GONNA GET THEIR FUCKING ASS KICKED.  I don't care if they have the 3rd largest military, they are small, and the US, with the help of the UN too, will crush them.  Fucking assholes.

Unfortunately, I believe the days of good old American ass-kicking have long since passed, seeing as all anyone wants to do is talk to them more firmly and impose stricter sanctions. Though I would love to be proven wrong. And if they do get pwn3d, it will NOT be because of the UN, it will be individual nations uniting and deciding they've had enough of Kim Jong Il's crap. The UN is pretty much worthless.

Korea is just flexing their muscles. They want everyone to cower to them and be scared of them. If anything were to really happen, NK would get their shit WRECKED!  And yes. Korea said they have might have a plan to fire a missile at Hawaii on July 4th. However, the past two times they tried to fire a test missile towards Hawaii, they failed MISERABLY. So yeah. They would get destroyed.

but seriously, what is invading going to accomplish? they have an extremely large, albeit maybe not so effective, army. who knows how much damage they could do in the time it took us to take the country. a country where literally every citizen hates america thanks to Kim Jongs propaganda. And then what happens? who takes over?

invading yet another sovereign nation, regardless of how idiotic it is, will just further entrench america as an exceptionalist asshole of a country, and destroy any credibility the current administration has managed to give us.

not to mention the fact that i HIGHLY doubt kim jong il will do anything. as i said in another thread, hes just waving around his newfound nuclear powered cock.

In school we watched this really rare documentary where an NBC or ABC reporter (idk who) went into Korea for like ten days. They were limited on what they could film 'cause they basically had this Korean dude following them everywhere making sure the reporter didn't do anything shady in North Korea's eyes. But anyways, the American reporter interviewed a bunch of citizens in the streets, students, and kids at universities. It was ridiculous how they believed that North Korea was the best nation ever, and that American's were just bullies that didn't have their priorities straight. Not to mention the kids at the universities thought they were the most intellectual people ever, but when asked about the internet and google they said they had no clue what the reporter was talking about.

The North Koreans have been fucking around for far too long. Back in 1976 those fuckers hacked a US soldier to death in Panmujong with axes when he and a few others attempted to prune the branches off a tree that was blocking their view. We should board this ship. The President and his administration have told the american public that they believe the NoKos have nuclear materials on that ship, so HOW CAN WE NOT search that ship. If we don't, he is going to lose massive face and look like a moron when he comes out and says "actually, we now don't think they have anything on that ship." Then again, we run the risk of the North Koreans running a feint with this ship. They may make a huge hubub about us boarding the ship and threaten to nuke Hawaii or overrun our 40,000 troops at the DMZ and into South Korea (by the way, our general over there says that AT BEST, our 40k men at the DMZ are just a speed bump to a possible North Korean assault into South Korea.) Then, they just pack that ship with cabbage or other veggies and make us look like fools on the world stage when we search the boat. Then with future boats, they do they same thing, or they send out multiple boats filled with veggies and then one with the nuclear materials. What we should do is tell that Rat piece of shit Kim Jong Il that we will kill him if he doesn't get his shit together. He obviously has shown that he doesn't give two shits about his own people because he has starved and killed plenty, so we can't really hope to find success in threatening the entire country, so it looks like we need to go right after that moron. Or we tell him we will bomb the shit out of his airbases and missile sites. Unfortunately, I don't think we have a president with the balls to take any sort of tough action if circumstances call for it.



plus, I'm not sure the current admin has given us any credibility, at least at home, poll numbers show that  people like the guy, but not his policies. Even the liberals are getting fed up.

by the way when exactly was the era of good old fashioned american ass kicking?  other than some strategic bombing raids with limited effectiveness, I can't think of any conflict in which we have won with ease except for the first gulf war.  and even then it was only because we didn't finish the job and had to go back for seconds.  i suppose we fucked up the indians and mexicans pretty good but i don't think that should really even count.

there have always been examples of old fashioned American ass kicking, ever since the revolutionary war. Lexington and Concord, Bunker Hill- ragtag American farmers proving they can go toe to toe with paid and conscripted professional soldiers. The rangers on DDAY at Point Du Hoc, the Battle of New Orleans in TWO1812, or my favorite, the 101st holding Bastogne during the Bulge. Open a book, there is plenty in there.

first off, when ever I read anything about north korea, arr I can think of is hearing everything I read in that kim jong voice from team america.

First, I dont think the United states should get into another war. We have spent way too much and we have way too big of a debt right now, but we should still do what we can to protect our country.

I agree about invading. I dont think that will ever happen. The estimates on the loss of lives of invading Japan was huge. Korea, would be pretty bad. no one wants to do that, plus warfare has changed tremendously.

I think that invading is not necessary, but if shit were to really hit the fan, and america and a bunch of others got involved to the point that kim jong ill was taken out, I think that the world could view the US and the other nations as the people who helped take a tyrannical dictator out of power and freed the north koreans from communism. Wait this sounds like Iraq. Nevermind, the world wont see us for what we've done.

I dont think the current administration has given us any credibility, but thats to debate in another thread.

Newfound nuclear powered cock is about the best way to put it. It wont be likely that hell do anything.

thanks for the history lesson bro.  you are naming battles of limited scope.  small victories in what are generally long drawn out bloody messes.  granted we've managed to win some of these wars but it was most definitely not easy and as fun as it is to say we kicked everyone's ass the reality is that we made plenty of blunders and took extreme losses in essentially every war.

try not acting like a know it all.  lexington and concord were primarily militiamen using guerrilla tactics.  not exactly the definition of u.s. military ass kicking.  bunker hill was technically a defeat considering we lost the hill although inflicted significant casualties.  if you want to talk revolutionary war (which is a poor example by the way) you should probably talk about the numerous humiliating defeats of the continental army under George Washington.  they definitely did not whoop ass.  Battle of Cowpens was actually the most impressive victory of the war.

for every battle you name i can name an embarassing defeat in the same war.  war of 1812 they burned the white house for christ sake.  WWII, how bout the surrender of the phillipines followed by the bataan death march.

like i said Gulf War I and the Mexican American war were probably the most one sided wars in american history.  if we did so much ass kicking why is the korean war not over?  why is the DMZ still there?

Uh war of 1812...we won that one there buddy (well it was a stalemate in the end to be honest, but we burned the whitehouse) The usa is a military power, but their last real victory would be over the Japanese.  They did very little in WWI, their biggest impact in WWII was their manufacturing might not military prowess. They realistically lost Vietnam and Korea and should have finished the first gulf war when they first went over there.  Afghanistan and Iraq are both stalemates and nearly impossible to win in the current form of conflict.  Every nation has elite soldiers and battles to be proud of so dont see this as a diss on american troops, just saying that big old can of whoop ass is pretty rusty.  Oh, and their Military is so inflated it is losing it's effectivness, just saying.

a marxist economic structure is much more stable, so we wouldnt be in the situatio were in if we followed marxism to the T.

communism gets a bad rap because of stalin kim jong, pol pot, etc... look what happened with cuba, they now have a 100% literacy rate, free health care for all, and because of  an embargo put on them by the states  are self suffceint.

so communism under a good leader works, but bad leaders who claim communism to win over the "workers" make it fail.

Tell me: do we NEED another war? With what's going on in Israel and Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan, the mounting violence in Iran, the Somalian civil war, the genocide in Darfur, the Mexican Drug Wars, do we really need another war? We've got enough problems as it is.

We'll see. They think there will be another nuclear test around July 4 (think about it, July 4, 2006, Memorial Day this year, etc.)

yes they have a massive, formidable ARMY. They don't have anything comparable to the technologies possessed by the US in terms of air power or sea power. Any good military tactician knows that if you can control the air then you win the war. And yes one day or another it will come down to war with NK, it' going to happen probably once kim jung ill's successor comes to power.

I also think it's ridiculous that the Republicans are attacking Obama for not taking a tougher line with North Korea. It seems like at least on NS (which, I realize is not a good indicator, but still), people are talking about they're going to get their asses kicked, but later on, once that happens, they'll blast Obama for wasting so much money at war with NK. I just find that interesting.

Definitely agree about not starting another war. It has potential to be very destructive in life and on our economy.

Are you really trying to defend the Iraq war in your last statement? There was no reason and we were funding Iraq when Saddam was acting just as badly. We deserve everything bad the world says about the Iraq war. It was completely unnecessary and it's one of those things we just have to make the best of and not make the same mistake again. In somehow trying to justify good in it we WILL make the same mistake again. If we want to free the world of evil dictators and oppression there are many other places we could put our boys in blue to better use than Iraq.

Very true, the problem is that we have developed such an intense diversity on our social structure that it would be impossible for us to adapt to communism  at the moment. It is good for developing countries. I had a very brilliant professor from a communist proxy country and he said that communism is not great, but after his country turned communist he had a place to live, heat, light, and an education. Granted it was a completely restricted one, it was still life better than he knew it previously. So communism can be good in some spots.
 
Also the point about China being communist is not true at all. They have only been gaining GDP as they cut out communist ideals and it has everything to do with their population not government.

ah, no. I used to be in support of the war, but I am unsure now. I know that saddam killed 100,000s of his own people, very terribly. I know the country is better off now. The war did not go as well it should have, obviously. Im not trying to defend Iraq, just making the point that a war in Korea would be a similar situation, but likely worse. I was making the point that the negative things about the war in Iraq cover and conceal the good things about the war. (this doesnt mean the entire war was great...) I think a similar thing could happen in Korea.

We def dont have the money for another war. Everyday, I want us to stop being in Iraq more and more because we lose so much money.

its estimated that they have around 10 nuclear warheads. what they fail to realize is that the U.S. has hydrogen bombs and its estimated that we have 10-15 thousand varoius types of ass merking bombs at our disposal

they just want to seem strong and imposing right now so that we bow down to them and give them money. since kim jong il doesn't care about his people he doesn't care if we attack his country, imo he doesn't really have anything to lose by being a douche to the world. he's basically ruined his country by focusing everything on the military and now he just wants more power over the rest of the world. we really don't want to piss them off because then somewhere in america is gonna get nuked before we can take out all of north korea, it's not just like heroic america is gonna go kick ass while north korea sits there picking their asses

This thread is funny to read, I think there was a kid defending communism "on paper" up there. Classic NS.

It will never cease to amaze me how little people on this website know and how willing they are to defend their foolishness.

Here is my 2 cents, NK is a very dangerous place for a couple of reasons.

1) They are completely controlled by an aggressive and tyrannical dictatorship, the people believe "the leader" is god and have little to no contact with the outside world. It is the best example of "1984" I can think of and breads blind hate towards western countries.

2) They have no problem openly deifying the UN.

3) They have nuclear weapons and the ability to deliver them via ballistic missile.

4) Although they have the ability to launch a nuclear missile I feel that the larger threat is a covert nuclear attack by moving a bomb into a large populated zone. Remember they hate South Korea and have a intricate series of tunnels that would allow them to move a bomb to the boarder unnoticed. They could also give their weapons to a terrorist organization.

Diplomacy will be the answer here. Invading NK will never NEVER have any positives. It is important to impede their nuclear program at every step, if this involves searching their cargo ships then it must be done. It is also important to make sure that all countries are consistent with their message to NK.

There is little threat to the US from NK militarily however the covert bomb attack is a much higher threat. If they attempt to launch at Hawaii I'm sure there are patriot missile systems in position and after the software update during the gulf these are much more accurate and enough missile flight time to intercept. There is almost certainly a US boomer submarine sitting of the coast capable of turning all of Asia into glass much less little NK.

Normally I would think that they are just testing the waters with the US seeing what Obama and the UN will do. But the culture in NK might have evolved to a point where the leadership believes their own propaganda. A dangerous situation which will require cool heads.

If we could just clear our heads here and relaz a bit ladies and gentlemen, I can maybe give you some insight into this "conflict" and this boat going on in North Korean waters. I might be able to help, As I was just in seoul a couple weeks ago when that second nuke test happened.

North Korea is looking for food and attention, not a fight. By "flexing their muscles" and tiny, underfed muscles they are, they might get pity from the United States and the World community. I guarantee you, after all this threatening happens, North Korea will re-enter negotiations, get some supplies for their people, and back down. I'm in an airport right now, about to leave, more on this later.
