so ive been thinking about saving up and getting a car this summer.

heres the one i was looking at haha i know its a cop car too there sick. they have 4.2 L V8's which is legit



of anyone else has info on the Ford Crown Victoria help me out by telling me some pros and cons

my friend bought an 03 crown vic. police interceptor.

I gotta say the thing is a boat. but it goes fuckin fast and can do a U-turn on a dime. just get the windows tinted and youll be set freaking other drivers out.

it comes with heavy duty rims and suspension so you can hop curbs at a decent speed. and it idles at 2500rpm so it keeps the heat or a/c runnin smooth. if you treat it right and put in synthetic pretty often you can make it last over 600,000 KM

also be prepared to spend a lot on gas

They are tanks on gas
Keep in mind the cops have VERY good mechanics, and run these things until they're almost dead.
I was looking into one for a while, but came to my senses and started looking for newer cars.

But my best advice it to take it for a test drive. Drive it to your parents regular mechanic and get them to take a look at it.

It has a 4.6L V8. Gets decent mileage for a V8. 24-26 hwy. Fun power. They don't idle at 2500 rpms, that is just ludacris. they idle at about 40-50 RPMs more in order to keep the battery charged and run all the cop equipment. Good if you plan on putting  a decent system in it. Will take some getting used to in the snow, but nothing a good set or tires and some sand bags in the trunk wont fix.

if gas werent an issue i would get that, you could put a light on the top and crash parties!

i'd imagine it probably rips shit too, a v8 in a sedan.

Little bit of an overstatement, I would not consider 250hp to be that "powerful", especially in a 2 ton car....

Not that bad, but considering its a tiny ass V8 in a car, it could be better. Some newer chevy 350s get better than that in full size trucks.

Its not bad at all. What full size get 23+ MPGs? Look at most v8 cars, they all get the same, sometimes even worse mileage.

My friends older Yukon gets about the same as that crown vic on gas mileage. It has the 5.7 too. Dont get me wrong, its great gas mileage, but your also looking at a smaller engine too.

As for the thread creator, dont expect it to be an uber fast car. Its 250 hp (at the most) in a 4000lb car. It will be quick but not that quick.

Im sorry but I gotta call BS on the Yukon MPGs, my dad used to have one, and now has an expedition, and on the hwy he was lucky to 18mpgs, and that was with the cruise at 75. maybe if you set the cruise at 55, you will break 20.

Yeah me too.... I have a 4.7L V8 in my GC and I am lucky If I get 17-18 then again I accelerate a little fast :) The Yukon is up there with the weight of the GC as well I am sure

That's also crazy. Cars don't idle anywhere near that low. The most cars idles anywhere from 600-1000 rpm.

I said they idle at that many RPM more, meaning more than a stock CV, so somewhere around 800RPMs id guess.

It'll drive like a boat.  If your a new driver you will proably scrape a lot of curbs and back into some shit, its got fairl large blind spots for a sedan.  They are fairly quick but not mob machines or anything.  Its a Ford with lots of mies on it so stuff will probably start falling off and exploding if you don't get lucky and get a good one.  People at parties will think cops are rolling up and its pretty funny.  If you've ever driven a big oldsmoble sedan or something, it'l drive like that but a little better because of cop upgrades.  If your lucky you can get one with the battering ram and spotlight still on.

I'm just going by what my friend has told me, if its wrong then fine, bitch him, not me. But diesels definatly do get that kind of mileage. The Fords get around 20 or so.

Dude when you're sitting in the back it's only that cramped because of the partition they put in and all the room needed up front for police gear. In a regular crown vic theres lots of room in the back seats

i was just at the colorado state patrol youth academy and i drove a crown vic all day there fuckin sick one of them was going 60 in reverse and i was doing doughnuts it was nasty

They are fun ish, but have been bagged and the milage is misleading, don't forget that they almost never turn off so they idle forever and have the wear associated with it.  I personally wouldnt buy one.

yeah bullshit theres tons of leg room with out the plexi glass wall
plus the seats are stab proof.
but the back bench seat doesnt fold down and your not gonna be able to fit the skis in the trunk

also theres the opportunity to put a bench seat in the front

All these people hatin on how there isnt any room in the back? WTF? thats a bunch of bullshit, there is sooooo much room ANYWHERE in this car, uncluding the trunk..can easily fit a bike back there no problem...along with a million other things. The only valid cons about it are that a few may have puked in the back seat *but i got brand new seats in the back of mine* and it is a lil sketchy in the winter because of RWD. But other than that, its pretty hard to point out anything bad about this car, its a straight beast.
