This is the result of my last 2 years. My experiences, and conclusions.
I used to Care.
I used to Cry for the world.
Like Atlas, carrying the world on his shoulders.
Memories of travels to the third world, visions of starving children and rivers of garbage took a little fun out of my soul, made me more serious.
I am an empath, a compassionate.
My girlfriends would tell me I need to smile more.
They were right.
So I learned to Play.
For those who can't.
To appreciate my freedom and comfort, my beautiful country, family and friends.
Now I never complain. Ever. About anything.
Not even about breaking my femur, back, skull, elbow, and knee in a very recent ski accident at whistler, which I will get to.
I don't tolerate complaining.
I don't believe in stress, for what do I have to stress about? Where Im going to travel to next? Where Im going to raft guide next? Where to build my next treehouse? What ski resort to tear up next winter?
If you are going to be my friend, be very careful what you complain about.
With these realizations, I have also quited my opinions, stopped my activism, my angry voice calling for change.
For I now see the complexity of gears in motion.
And the size of my voice. (a grain of sand)
The wheels are in motion, and they will be slow to change. They MUST be slow to change to avoid hurting people.
For example: You want to save the rainforest (I do) and you tie yourself to a tree, and the loggers can't cut down your forest.
You win, the forest stands.
Looks like a victory, right?
Now follow the loggers home, where they have to tell their wifves and children they have to leave their homes becuase they have lost their jobs.
How do you feel now?
My point is, taking action hurts people.
And I think a lot about cause and effect, and the result of my actions.
Which causes me to withdraw my voice, my opinion, and my action.
To take another look .
A closer look.
A Very specific look.
Before I choose a side.
Because neutrality IS a side, It is the side of unbiased perspective, and it is more important than ever.
I have changed
Like Offspring : "We're Innocent!! the weight of the world is on our shoulders, yeeehhaa, We're not the ones who made the nuclear bomb to threaten our lives, were not the ones who made the homeless sleep in the streets at night, AAyyyyyyyy We're innocent !"
I look around at the people,
Judging each other without even knowing.
Fighting for the latest shiny prize,
A big fishook between the eyes
Chasing careers, hoping for happiness and security.
Well I know that the world is not secure.
Job Security does NOT exist.
The Macro world, the cities, the Markets, the Global economy, The Multinational Companies,
however necessary there are in this moment, to feed the people, are going to fail under the immense pressure of 6.5 billion opinions.
The future is the Micro
Micro communities, making their own energy, food, and economy, using technology to create their own security.
but this will happen in time, I just like to mention it to get people thinking. Ready for change when the
time comes.
Work Less
Play More
Follow your own heart
DO WHAT YOU WANT TO
I have learned (from my experience at Burning Man)
to Respect peoples decisions.
No Matter What.
I don't ask questions that arent my business.
My Friends are my Family.
Honesty, Loyalty, Trust.
Qualities I hope to see flourish.
Now, I will tell a story
After university,
I moved to whistler
and was a guide at a zipline company, doing 3 3hour tours a day, teaching people about eco- stuff while we played in the tree tops
I was fired for teaching people too much, talking about farmed salmon, and the antibiotc feed and dye pellets.
That wasnt in the curriculum.
So I took my 800$ and went to Shambhala, which I snuck into, spending a day coming from 5 km down river.
Then, I got a job as a cook, lining up my winter ski pass.
Then I went to burning man with the rest of my $
.
WOW
what a place!!
google burning man if youve never heard of it.
just amazing.
A bunch of shit you can never imagine, like a 200 ft tall duck driving through the desert with flames shooting out of its head pumping psi-trance with 200 people dancing on top.
So I was living in my car, camping at hot springs, my treehouse, and random camp spots while i worked and skiied.
Then i met a girl living in her car at a parking lot at some waterfalls. She moved into my car, hers was a rental, and a week later we rented a place and moved in together
.
I cooked and skiied all winter,
And at the end of may, I was skiing on a very sketchy spot, my favourite in whistler, and I was in an avalanche which took me off a 200 foot cliff
I broke my femur and peices off my vertabrae, as well as other injuries mentioned above.
I knew this lesson was coming since i was 14. I knew i had to learn the hard way.
I am lucky to be a live and not paralyzed.
I now have a new perspective of everything around me, the world is now full of so much beauty
I appreciate everything
.
I am thankful to have my near death experience, emphasis on NEAR.
I hope you enjoyed this
