No worries, I was just trying to fix it so that people can watch the vid.
Here's my e-mail.
Ms. Lukas,
I would like to start off by saying that I am absolutely appalled at your behavior during the graduation ceremonies of Bonny Eagle High School. It is instances like this one that make me realize that I am losing faith in humanity.
I would like to know why you feel that you have the right to deny an 18-year-old his diploma? Is it because he ‘misbehaved’ during the ceremony? Or is it because we have come to live in an age where people take themselves way too seriously? I feel that you take yourself, and your job, too serious. You are the superintendent of a school district in Maine, not the President.
I’m sure you have seen the backlash of your actions on the Internet (if not,
http://buzz.yahoo.com/buzzlog/92681?fp=1 and
http://www.wlky.com/education/19766393/detail.html ). In fact, I would have not known about this incident, was it not for the Internet. I live nowhere near you, and I felt compelled to write to you.
I’ll wrap this up – because I am sure that you have numerous other e-mails in your inbox.
"Four years ago we had some issues with silly string and beach balls," said Lukas. This quote was taken from the first link. To be honest, it sounds like you & I (and the rest of the population) have different views on the word ‘issues’. To me, an ‘issue’ is the ongoing wars overseas, or the struggling economy, or the contested election in Iran. NOT silly string and beach balls.
It seems to me that you have contradicted yourself. I think that you should have signed the statement agreeing not to misbehave, not the students. Get over yourself.
