Actual metal rails bad idea for backyard setup?

ok so my setup that you can check out in my pics, you would think is totally perfect. However i am still not getting nearly enough speed for it. after countless changes and alterations i am getting frustrated. i think now that it isnt the drop in but actually the metal rail opposed to a pvc rail.

thoughts?
ideas?

its driving me nuts that its not working out!

and before you ask i have been using tons of water and soap on it....

I can't ell in the pic on your profile, how tall is it?  Otherwise yeah, looks perfect,s o it could be the metal because PVC is a lot faster.  Do you feel like you have enough speed at the beginning of the rail?  That would be the easiest way to tell (or posting a vid).

i think your set up looks perfect, but the location of it is causing your problems

i found that set ups work WAY better if everything is on a slight hill, if anything is flat your going to be losing speed, so your transition, lip, and rail are all flat so i think that's your problem

i dont know how that could be fixed besides finding a little hill to put it on, but i think your rail is probably fine

the setup is 8 feet tall and the rail is 21 inches high and 16 feet long

i have a metal rail at my house this summer. its 24ft long and i can notice i slow down alot faster then on pvc. and i can put better edge pressure on the metal opposed to on pvc which is alot easier to dance on. i like it though as long as you have your speed down then its not a bad idea for a backyard rail...

the way it works basically is the etal slides a lot faster in the winter. Because your wax is being melted on the rail its getting a lot more sticky. where in the winter the surface freezes over and becomes much faster. all in all i would reccomend pvc for summer, and metal for winter.

its the drop in man the metal is fine in the summer put on some water and wax

this is mine and i have a hill but it works fione

that would be the same for pvc as metal, and i dont think the bases touch metal or pvc in one spot for long enough for any melting to occur. i think you should go buy some skate wax and go bananas on that rail
