Driver improvement course...really?

i was down at school in Virginia and my two buds and i were going 30 seconds down the road to the bank before a party. well a cop pulled behind us and pulled us over. he said we pulled into the turning lane too fast but it was a bullshit reason just to ger us for not wearing seat belts. i literally always wear a belt cus ive had my best friend die, but i was on my phone and in a hurry so i forgot. in virginia seat belt tickets are a secondary offense meaning you cant be pulled over for just that.
anyways we all paid the 25 dollar slap on the wrist and moved on. so yesterday i get a letter in the mail saying i have to take an 8 hour driver improvment course that could cost 75 dolllars. how the ell does that work? the offense isnt even on my record. neither of my friends got anything either.
s has anyone else ran into shit like this? i dont know if its a mistake or what, but i feel they are trying to take as much money from me as possible. not to mention i have a perfect record. no speeding tickets or accidents ever...
sorry for the long rant

while it sucks that you have to do the improvement course, i think the real target for improvement courses should be seniors

there are far too many idiotic young drivers (and old drivers alike) out there who think they are gods gift to the road.
driving is a privilege, not a right. i really wish they made it much more difficult to get your license in north america (kind of like in china)... three cheers for socialism!

seems pretty fair to me.
I got a $90 ticket for turning left at 8:56 when the sign said no left turns 7am-9am.
That's just life.

get in your car, put the key in the ignition, put your seatbelt on, foot on the brake, turn the key, it's pretty damn hard to forget to do

i really think most of you are missing the point, he accepted the seat belt ticket, the issue is the fact that the cop made up a reason to pull him over (had that happen to me, tried to search the car for drugs, all they found was old subway garbage and gave my friend a warning for "riding the yellow line"), and also they're slapping this $75 course on, which really shouldn't be happening for a seat belt violation.

I fucking hate cops. There are so many kids that have shit on them that they will try to nab anyone doing something not-so-bad in hopes of busting drugs.
Some of my friends went to the movies Saturday night, and on their way back they went to throw part of a pizza away in a dumpster. Apparently this activity was suspicious to warrant 4 police cars and a drug dog to show up. Little did the cops cops know, these kids never have drugs on them, and they weren't drunk or anything so nothing came out of it.
Just be glad you didn't get hit with a UPM or anything, and don't think there is a way of dodging this course, unless you want a court date I would suggest you simply do what they ask of you.

This.
And when did NS become the seatbelt police? I never where my seatbelt in defiance of said stupid law. I am 26 and able to determine my own safety standards. I am not harming anyone else do failing to protect my body. Sure it is safer but so would helemts, and why arnt seatbelts on school buses? Oh yeah because they would be too expensive to install on every state owned bus.
