Little help for current events?

Tomorrow is my last day of school before finals, but for some reason my Euro teacher (perm sub for a prego teacher) wants us to write a little report on a current events story. everyone kinda just put this off, and now i have no idea what to write about. here is what we need to do.

"Each student should plan on doing at least one current events report during this fourth quarter. The report should be on event related to European news. There will be newspapers in the classroom to use, as well as internet sources, the radio, and television.

 

Each report should be one typed page in length. The report should relate the current news item to one of the themes we have examined in social studies; for example, conflict, cultural diffusion, growth and decline of empires, etc.

 

Please include historical background on the country where the event is taking place, as well as an update on latest developments"

so i need a good story that relates to europe and european history. obviously i want to do elections in iran, but its not europe. the latest european news i could find is about some soccer player...

so can you guys help me find some article? im looking all over the NY times, but i cant find anything good. i can write the report, i just cant find an article

both of those really have nothing to do with europe, especially the first one (if you read the post you would obviously know im not doing that). and korea is korea, their missles may be able to hit europe but its not about europe

democracy has everything to do with europe..... It reached iran through cultural diffusion (your theme). They saw that world powers in EUROPE were getting shit done, and emulated them.

dude, a story about cultural diffusion, conflict, any of that IN europe. demecracy in iran, which europe also has, is not about europe, its about iran

You're not gonna find much European news on the NYT. I'd try BBC.

write about susan boyle and how simon made her crack!!! hehe. no but honestly it is a huge story right now...and really interesting if you look at the social issues around it. like how society tells us we should be popular and want to be celebrities but offer not support for how to cope with it. or how they changed her once she became popular by getting her a makeover to be more socially acceptable as a star.

went to BBC, absolutely nothing. i had to fall back to israel/palestine, i will just convince her its alright and that there was nothing else to use
