Making Shirts

Could you just stencil logos or whatever onto t-shirts without it bleeding in the wash? And would you stretch the shirt when you sprayed or what?

ya i do it all the time.... let it dry and it will get all crusty and shit... but once you throw it in the wash it gets all nice and smooth

You can use any spraypaint just make sure that the stencil is down all the way or else it'll look kinda sloppy or just not come out at all... they also make this special paper that you can print on and then steam it onto a shirt... but idk how much it is...

very true but there are ways to do it cheap. there's a video on youtube where they use a sewing hoop and it comes out nicely.

then again spray paint looks cool

even though shiny spray paints look cool, such as silver and gold, do not use it because it doesn't last the wash. by  the by what do you plan to stncil?

ive done some experimenting but i cant find anything good to use as a homemade stencil, ive tried cutting cardboard, n just regular paper
any suggestions

Manila Folders work really good. also if you wash the shirt before you spray it, it stays on there no problem

for your stencil, us some bristol board or thin cardstock, something with weight ut that you can cut with an xacto.

and to get clean lines, spray the stencil with a little spray adhesive before laying it down. just let it dry a bit. itll hold it down, and peel right up with out leaving residue or anything.

screen printing is neither expensive or rocket science.

http://community.livejournal.com/craftgrrl/3674467.html is the hoop/curtain method, which appears to work VERY well.


http://www.instructables.com/id/E7UUC3UIOOEQ6T1YGE/ is another, same idea though.


If you plan on actually getting into printing on a semi-regular basis, I'd spend a little bit of money and get real screen material, build your own frames, and get a cheap UV light to expose with.

thank you thank you thank youuu. i've been trying to find easy ways to do screen printing and the first link looks simple, cheap and creates a quality design. definitely going to try this out.
