backcountry.com runs it...

if you buy shit from backcountry selling it through geartrade then it's legit, with individual sellers it's just like any forum or something, i bought some fks off there and everything was fine, but it's either bc.com or individual sellers, not a store

i have bought 5 or 4 things from the "backcountry' seller. 

super legit

i bought some skis off the seller backcountry so i figured it was totally legit and that they would tell me what i needed to know. They said skis had been mounted once which i was aware of, i asked for pics to see for any noticable damage didn't really see any. i got them and the heel had been ripped out on one side and started to on the other, it wasn't like a bad rip out it was just enough for where the threads pulled though, but still definitely noticable that the wholes are bigger in person. I was pretty bummed. i tried to mount in a different location but they just pulled out again, i guess its hit or miss, sounds like most people have good experience though.

GearTrade.com is legit.  I write all of the content for the site, meaning the descriptions.  Most of the ski/snowboard stuff i put up is good, but sometimes its kind of haggard.  All of the stuff that gets listed is mainly stuff that gets returned because of Backcountry.com's killer return policy.  Most of the time its just slightly used.  I try and get all of the bindings and boot sole lengths for skis that have been mounted.  The thing that not too many people know about the site is that for each day an item is listed, it goes down 1/365th in price each day.  As soon as an item hits 6 months on the site, it automatically goes to $4.99 regardless.  Even if it was a pair of skis that were on the site one day for 200 bucks, the next day they could be 4.99.  Its a pretty sweet thing.  If you have any questions or need pictures, just go through the site and ask the seller a question and we will give you pictures.

Do you not ship internationally like backcountry does?

Ya but if you read the description it says there in URBAN condition and there pretty torn up.

But i guess 34 bucks for urban skis isnt that bad

Finger31, so it is you behind all the descriptions :)  This probably isn't you, but can you tell whoever it is that something cannot be "more nicer", but only nicer. Thanks :)

i dont wanna sound like a total dick but you totally ripped off the guy who posted before you by giving a shitty/false description. he cant even use the skis you sold him, i really hope you pm him and try and compensate him for selling him a product with a false description(at least its false from his POV). if what he said is the truth then i put you in the same category with scammers and would i would never do business with the site. im pretty sure a rip out would be something most people would want to know about

I bet he tried his best but didnt see the problem.  I have purchased  a few things from geartrade and have generally gotten what was described, but I think these guys have to review TONS of items and can miss some things.  If his skis were jacked, did he try to return them?  Just saying, take it easy a bit on Finger31, I think they do an overall good job.

Great for buyers.


Sellers can get ripped off pretty easily due to long turnarounds (More than a month) for payments, and large commissions.

Don't sell your big-ticket stuff on GearTrade. You'll give up a lot of money if you do.
