As people would have read, a few lucky soles missed their air france flight which went on to kill all 200 odd on board... Well in the news today was one of the passengers who missed the flight, and that she was killed in a car accident this week!

An Italian woman who missed her doomed Air France flight has been killed in a car accident, it has been reported.

Johanna Ganthaler had been on holiday in Brazil and missed Air France Flight 447 after turning up late at Rio de Janeiro airport. The flight crashed into the Atlantic, killing all 228 people aboard.

It is believed Ganthaler and her husband caught a flight from Rio de Janeiro the next day.

Ganthaler died this week when her car veered across a road in Kufstein, Austria, into the path of an oncoming truck.


Anyone else thinking final destination 1 shit happening here? i mean a plane crashed, like air frances, then people started dying... trippy shit i tell you!

a mother and daughter got hit by a drunk driver yesterday. girl got split in half and mother got dragged under the car for another 700 ft till the car hit the side of a building.


id say they have it worse.

wow thats messed up.  driving drunk is so fucked up, i have no sympathy for some piece of shit who decides to drive drunk and ends up fucking over someone elses life.

holy fuck that is terrible. def + vibes for them. i never want anything like that happen to anyone i care for. shit like that really gets to me. reading it and seeing it in my head but only 10 time worse. gets me shaken up.

yea but if your sober there's a good chance it was just a stroke of really bad luck, but if you're drunk then you were enough of a dick to try to drive drunk in the first place. there's a reason why drunk drivers are punished more heavily, it's by no means a 'get out of jail free' card as you're making it out to be.

oh really? i've been in a 70 mph roll-over that was just bad luck... it was about 33 degrees out, the sun was going down, my mom didn't see the black ice on the freeway. that's some pretty bad luck, let me tell you.

yea but seriously think about it, i can tell you haven't yet. can you honestly imagine somebody ever getting let off the hook because they were drunk? no matter how good of a driver you are when you're drunk, you are endangering somebody's life. i mean sure, maybe somebody drives recklessly and hits a person. but how is it better if somebody is driving recklessly and mentally impaired?? It exponentially increases the risk that they will a) drive even more dangerously, and b) crash. if your argument was logical, don't you think the justice system would work the same way?

and i agree with crazyfuck. accidents happen from bad luck allll the time. if a kid runs into the street from behind a car and gets hit by a person going the speed limit, is that really anybody's fault? nope, just unfortunate timing.

my mom was driving on the highway (she drove fast) with my dad before they stopped at a rest stop/park to let my dog out.  she had an aneurism and died in the park.  if she hadn't stopped to let my dog out they could have both died in a crash on the highway.

well first of all, that is completely irrelevant. but just so you know, i was picturing like a 3 year old that didnt really know better. but what does it matter? the point is, it is not the driver's fault. one of my friends was on his way to morning practice a few years ago when his dad (who is a good driver) hit a patch of black ice. the car slid over the sidewalk and flipped down and embankment. had they hit somebody who was walking on the sidewalk, would it really have been anybody's fault? accidents can in fact be accidents. i know it's uncommon, but it happens. drunk driving accidents are never accidents.

It would be the negligent parents fault for allowing their 3 year old to crawl into the street.

Black Ice strikes again, "too fast for conditions" is a ticket that is commonly issued.

Lets go with your "Pedestrian gets in the way" argument, here is a true story...

15 year old crossing highway with friends. Runs full speed to the median, and couldn't stop. Over shoots the median, stumbles over, and gets hit by a Jeep driving along on the other side.

Driver of the Jeep is a tourist from NY. He's in town for his bachelor party. He hasn't checked into his hotel yet. He got to town and immediately met his friends at a golf course for a morning round of golf. He had just finished the round and was heading to his hotel for check in.

Roadside sobriety test(walking the line ect.), passed. Breathalyzer BAC: .09.

Until a few years ago the legal BAC was .10. It has since been lowered to .08 by any state wishing to receive federal highway funds.

it is mind boggling that you are having such a hard time understanding the 3 year old example. it does not matter if it is the kid's or the parent's fault! the point is that it is not the driver's fault. but, i will say that your example does give an example of an intoxicated accident, i had never heard that story. although frankly, if you saw a kid bolting across to the median that you were right next to, wouldnt you slow down considerably? most responsible drivers would, he should have seen that kid coming from a ways away. and you haven't countered some of my points: if your argument is true, why isn't it accepted by everyone? surely the public isn't that stupid.

I feel I should amend this, aside from random vehicle failure and/or people/animals running into the road, accidents where traffic laws are broken don't just happen by bad luck.

think about it, driving drunk is knowingly endangering peoples lives the second you get in the car. its different when your sober and cause an accident, your not knowingly endangering peoples lives, making a mistake while driving and hitting someone is an accident. when you drive drunk, you know you are extremely dangerous and could potentially kill someone.

i have so much more sympathy for someone who causes an accident that kills someone and is sober. they didnt enter their car knowing they would make a mistake that could end someones life, cars are dangerous, and shit happens.
but with a drunk person, they are purposefully risking peoples lives, purposefully being extremely dangerous.
IMO one dui should mean you loose your liscense forever. drunk driving is fucked up and your a fuckin douche bag if you do it.
