Any Advice For Rails?

K i need some advice to learn how to do rails and look pimp so if anyone has some info that would help please shout it out. im gonna make a summer setup and anything would be great. thanks

i dont even know what they would  be called sorry haha  but  at first just sliding and then doing a 180 out then 360 and work on doing spins while still on the rail

first i would say learn the correct trick names otherwise people arent gonna know what the fuck you are talkin about. with rails its just practice, after you try it for the first few times and fall and dont die you wont be hesitant to try tricks on/off and sw ups. after you get it once its pretty straight forward from there

it takes practice u need to have good ballance on the rail before u can start doin any actual tricks on it. my advice is to make a summer set up and practice till u get better

key word is SLIDE rails i feel that the word GRIND gives you the wrong idea makes you think the rail has resistance which makes you think that hockey stopping the rail is correct which is not true just jump on to it like your going to slide on a patch of ice

In all seriousness, slide the rail straight, 90 on, front and blind 90s out until you can do that shit blindfolded.
Then start throwing in variations.

Walk before you can run.

practice a ton this will get you used to balancing then start to try different variations take it slow there is no need to rush into it if your building a summer set up you have a couple of months to get in multiple lines.

ps. is that purple jacket yours? Thats a pretty sick setup you got there for not being able to slide a rail?

rails are tricky, there are some good tips that im sure have been stated already but ultimatley its about repition. Just pick a rail you like and sesh the living shit out of it until you can do it in your sleep, by doing this you'll find what works for you and then you can go crazy on the rest of the mountain. Just be persistent

learn how to dip your skis, it will open up 270s out and on, switch ups, pretzels, 450s etc. by dip it means to grip the rail or box

Never have your legs completely straight on a rail. If there's no bend in your knees if you catch or even slightly lose your balance then you're going down. If your legs are bent you can always pop off of the rail if things turn ugly.

The other advice I have is to keep your legs wide. It looks steezy and helps so much with balance.

well all that might take a while but just start out on boxes, just popping, 90 then 90 out. do that about 100 times then move to rails and ride them regular a ton and then start 270 and 450 and 630s. Overall it takes a while but thats how i learned. Oh and throw some switch ups on the learning too

Nah, build a 4 foot tall single barrel and start with a few 180 ons.  When you get that down, you need to try and zero on.  That would be sick.  Sorry, couldn't resist.  One real solution without having to build a whole summer setup, is to pick up a cheap skate rail and practice jumping on just wearing shoes.  I posted this on the balance help thread too, and I already grabbed shit for looking goofy.  I'm not proud; here's my footage.

First of all when u do a rail you must be concentrated in what u're gonna trick on the rail. If u have fear you will fall back and destroy u're bottom.

I always imagine me on the rail doing the trick I want to do then I think if it's possible or not for me.
