Customs?

hey i was wondering what the deal is with customs. US and CANADA have free trade agreement. So why am i being charged customs on a gift on an item MADE in USA to have shipped to canada. I dont understand, im not even buying from a company, its being given to me from an individual.

yup tell them that. they dont care if its sent as a gift or not they mainly look at the value, another was is to send it as a commercial sample but just say he mayde a mistake and $15 should work

and it doesn't hurt to have them say they are used goods either (dramatically lowering the value)
