Ipod trouble

As of recently, my 5th Gen ipod video won't play music. If anyone has any clue on how to help me please do so :]

Here's the situation.

When I click a song to play no music will come out. I've tried using headphones, one of those cassette players for your car, and even an itrip, still no audio will come out of anything. The thing is, the ipod is acting like there's nothing wrong, the bar for how much time is left in the song progresses like normal.

I've looked around some discussion boards hoping someone had a similar situation to mine but I couldn't find one. Most people didn't have the time bar working like normal as in my case.

So I've tried re-setting, I just got done re-storing and still nothing works. Naturally when all else fails I come to NS for help. If anyone has some ideas...

I'm trying to avoid calling Apple. I'm sure they can fix this but I doubt it'll be worth the cost. I've had this thing for almost 4 years and it's been pretty much perfect until now. Sentimental value you know.
