What should I do?

Last night me and my girlfriend went out with a water bottle of vodka and a water bottle of malibu.

I dont know how much we ended up having but we were done. We were walking around and she stepped on broken glass and cut a deep deep gash in her foot, and her one flip flop was caked with blood... we stayed out for another hour at least, then home. but what should she do about her foot, its pretty bad...

does it appear to need stiches? if its super deep it probably needs em in which case you should be good boyfreind and take her to the ER and get them shits stiched up. if you need a second opinion put a picture of the wound up, or just go to the ER just incase y'know. goodluck.

we put a bandaid on pretty soon after it happened and i couldnt see it to tell if it needs stitches there was too much blood.

a wound needs stitches cause of a couple of reasons. depth, width, and location.

so if it sat overnight and it has not come close to closing up by itself, you have to go get it stitched, especially since its a part of the body that is constantly moving etc etc.

here is a tip. call her doctor and make an emergency appointment. dont go to the ER. you will sit in the ER for 6 hours just to be sutured up in 3 minutes. call her primary care physician, trust me.

Thanks but shes been at work since 7 this morning, its wrapped and Polysporin'ed, I havent seen it today but she says it's not bad enough for the hospital.

if theres still glass in her foot, it could get infected, may not reject, and thats how you get amputated.

i mean theres a way to tell and if shes still bleeding and theres a sharp pain in the area, theres probably still glass in it.

i would out some hydrogen peroxide on it, infections are now fun, and neither are amputated feet : X

hydrogen peroxide is not really recommended for wounds these days as leaving it on an open wound can damage tissue.

if you have an open wound we use generally use bacitracin

It stopped bleeding last night, band aided it last night, this morning a guy at her work cleand it and bandaged it up and everything with the first aid kit. theres no glass in the cut, it was a huge piece she stepped on and we found it later on the ground still and covered in blood

pour clorox on it, put on sock, jump rope.

typically if it stops bleeding soon it is a really deep cut, that might need interior stiches, i suggest getting it examined, and just have her tell her parents she stepped on glass, this is a stupid ass question, she could get so many infections and lose her foot, dumbass

man i wish i was a doctor...FML but that school takes too long and i like skiing too much to give up my next ten years to skiing.

lets just say i love medicine, eat breath sleep medicine. Im just the worlds most enthusiastic nurses aide and EMT.

by the way where does she work that someone is cleaning it?

and infection prolly wont happen, i mean, if the wound is clean and she is older than 15 (when we get our tetanus shots) she will be fine.

besides, the time for antibiotics is RIGHT after the injury. 24 hours later and the time has passed really. just tell her to watch for redness, funny colored/smelling drainage, and fever.

think about it, us on this website. how many times between 2 years old and now have you scraped the shit out of your knee, or cut yourself, or whatever. have any of you lost limbs to infection? this country is so over the top with medicating/treating yourself. i had 20 percent of my back, a chunk of my arm, etc etc open to the air for the last two weeks, and i worked. i have cuts on my hands all the time. you know how many people with HIV, Hep, MRSA, VRE etc etc that i take care of every day? all the freaking time. i dont ever get any of that shit. in fact, i rarely ever get sick. just be a clean person, chill on the chemicals, and keep an eye on it.

She works at an autoshop and apparently the guy that did it knows his shit. Cleaned with soap almost immediatly then Polysporin like 6 hours later

if the cut hasn't started to close itself now then she should see a doctor

also if it is beginning to turn red around the cut and feel incredibly sore then there is a risk of infection
she should keep it elevated with antibacterial shit on it like neosporin or bacitracin. she should also try to stay off it, walking moves the bottom of your foot a lot and it will pull the cut apart whenever it starts to bond back together

either way she should go to a doctor, not the ER, a doctor, just to make sure there isn't glass in there and if there is and it's looking bad they will put her on antibiotics. either way they will give her a better way to treat it

your legs and feet have a very high risk of infection, i went through this with a cut to the bone on my leg, so if not properly treated and elevated they will get infected and nobody wants that. but i'm not a doctor, i just know from personal experience, my cut was much worse but you need to be careful of infection on lower extremity lacerations and if it bled a ton the she should definitely get it looked at
