Will Salomon Impact 8's be good for me?

I need a new boot for NZ, will mostly be doing park, and a bit of charging powder when there are some dumps. Went to a bootfitter and he suggests the Salomon Impact 8's (they have a flex of 90). I really want to try some freestyle specific boots like the SPKs or Rossi SAS's but there doesn't seem to be any stockists here (Australia). Would the impact 8s be a good boot for me? or would something like an spk's be a lot better? I get really bad shinbang in my current 1080s - they are really old and really packed out.

I'm 6 foot 162 pounds (73kg).

oh and yeh.. i've tried on FTs, they don't fit me well.

I would go with what the bootfitter suggested IF he fitted you properly i.e. shell fit etc.
Most freestyle boots just have a different foot board in them.
If they fit properly and you land properly you shouldn't get shin bang.

Do you need the boots before you go to NZ?
If you don't where are you going in NZ

was thinking of getting boots here first so that i can wear them in before i go. also if i get them here, i can get the shop to tinker with em if i need to.
heading to wanaka for about a month. skiing cardie.
i guess if i bought them in nz, they'd be cheaper coz of the exchange. any good bootfitters you know of?

The best i know of in Wanaka is Racers edge, they probably won't have any freestyle boots though.
If you want to try spks go to Base they have them and the impacts so you could compare.
The prices will probably be about the same with the exchange rate where it is now, impacts are $899 NZ and spk pros are $1100.
I assume your flying directly to queenstown, you could try there as well your sure to find somewhere to try on some freestyle boots

I have these boots and if they fit right get them you won't be dissapointed. I used these boots all season and they have held up well. They are warm and comfortable. They also have a comfortable footbed and the insert is so nice, like if you overshoot a jump or there is a flat landing your feet don't get hurt at all. I would also get them before you go to nz. Hope this helps.

Are you actually going to ski in the boots before you come to NZ?
If not you would be better off getting them here and getting them adjusted as you discover problems, would end up a lot cheaper. Just a thought.

yeh thats a good point you make. im going to do a day trip before i go, but wont have time to get them tinkered with before i head to nz. ill ring nz places to see how much they are..
