For all you lacrosse players (esspecially east coasters)
its the opposite around here. i myself love lacrosse and hope to play D3 in the future. the really good players on our varsity team are all normal, there are two decent kids who are huge bros, but otherwise they are very normal. the amazing kids from other schools in our section (when i mean amazing i mean hopkins/cuse/virginia bound players, i think some of THE best lacrosse in the nation in just our section of NY) are also hardly bros. infact, my brother used to go to the gym wearing my lax pinnies but he never played lacrosse
he went to hotchkiss by buddy went to school with him. and maryland is not the lacrosse capital of the world at all. NY is by far they send more players to the d1 level than anywhere else, not to mention the 3 best players the game has ever known came out of carthage
I live in Westchest, Section 1. I go to Horace Greeley, other teams in our section (that you would know of) are Yorktown, John Jay (you should know both of those), Somers, Putnam Valley, Rye, as well as others. If you wanna look up some of the recruits, look up Jojo marasco, Kevin Interlicchio, John Ranagan, and a BUNCH of others. Mike danielo (plays like an amazing senior) is the sophomore brother of the danielo on Cuse, Kevin Drew also played for JJ and now plays for cuse. I'm sure you have heard of the bocklet brothers too. Tons of old players came from yorktown like Roy Colsey (was our varsity coach last year actually) as well as other. Ned Bowen went to our school and graduated a few years ago, won two (i think) championships at UVA and was a sophomore captain on UVA.
the kid i mentioned, kevin interlicchio, hes a junior, hes already committed to hopkins. Jojo marasco had his pick of any school last year as a junior, hes going to SU, hes like the 5th best recruit in the country. Matt white commited to Virginia last year as a junior (he plays for ridgefield in CT but its close to us and Roy Colsey now coaches them and i played with him at a tourney, infact cornell tried to pick him up at the tourney but he was taken ;)).
NY is definitely THE hotbed...
Since they lose to Bay State every year. The year I played we beat them 18-12. NY puts out some great players, but per capita it is not even close to MD.
Just for some perspective, my summer league team had 4 future D-I all americans on it. This was just random assignment summer ball, no coaches pick. I would be surprised to show up to any summer league in NY and see 4 future all americans on the same field, much less same field.
uhhh, no, wrong. there were at least 4 D1 bound players on a team that we just threw together for a november recruiting tourney, it was dirty (and freezing).
as for the person from Syracuse, definitely not the lax capitol... Yes you have 'cuse there but that doesnt mean anything, and what do you mean cortland is "getting there"? cortland won the D3 championship this year... and West Gennisy is your only good high school program.
and non of the school i have mentioned are privet, all public school with multiple d1 bound players.
ur a fool. Lax magazine showed a chart with percentages of seniors from all areas across the country and the percentage that each section sent to d1. NY/NJ was above like 40 percent of all d1 bound athletes. MA/VA was in second with a little less than 30. YOU LOSE.
and for some perspective. My freshman year in sectional finals we played niskayuna, ranked 9th in NY 18th in the nation. Their startin middie line went full ride to Navy(when they were real sick), Hopkins, and Cuse. Thats just their mid line. On one team. In prolly one of the worst lacrosse sections in the state. NY/NJ cant be compared to the rest of the country it isnt fair. Look at all D1 rosters, at least 50% of the team is from NY on almost every school.
My friend is going to Colgate on a scholarship and got selected as an Under Armour AA, playing in the game. Turned down Virginia and Duke for some reason. He's from Oregon.
im an east coast lacrosse player. being a east coast guy lacrosse player automatically makes you hotter. you non laxers are just envious of the lax bros for getting girls you cant.
Are you aware of FM, Matt Taylor, the number one recriut two years in a row, and The Thompson Brothers from Lafayette? ......Both 20 mins from syracuse, and both are Public schools..... High Schools
Central New York is the hotbed
the only other possible place is LI, with Isip and JJ, but thats only two
You are not very good at math.
NY+NJ Population = 28.25 Million
MD+VA Population = 13.5 Million
Those two states have more then twice the population of MD/VA. They
would need to produce 60% of D1 players to be equivalent to MD/VA. They
do not. They produce D1 players roughly 66% as often as THE hotbed. You lose. It is not really fair to compare MD/VA, they are better, the numbers don't lie. Maybe compare NJ vs. PA vs NY?
ur an idiot son just look at the numbers, where are most of the recruits from. NY/NJ. Maryland wasnt even close. Idc about general population who produces more. YOU LOSE
i don't understand why the magazine would lump md with va and nj with ny. Obviously nj and ny are going to have the most recruits because those are big hotspots for lax. Maryland is another hotspot for lax but virginia is not. So therefore that is unfair to MD.
They should have just compared the recruits state by state
Too bad they arent playing again this year, that might settle this argument. As a Marylander, I think that the NY area has the best prep schools except for every once in a while Gilman, Loyola, Boys Latin, or Calvert Hall will sneak in the top spot. I go to Severn which is in the MIAA and Gilman was sick this year but I cant compare them to any NY team cause ive never seen them. Its not really fair just to compare who has more D1 recruits. Watch the Under Armour all star games and then we will see which district is better.
wrong wrong wrong... First off, John jay is not on long island and is not in that section. Section 1 (the section JJ is in) consists of Yorktown (who is better than john jay for sure and produces tons of D1 recruits), somers who has jojo, one of the top recruits and more, plus soo many other schools. we actually have the best lacrosse in NY. I gurantee Yorktown wins class B states.
btw, john jay has three players on their team, at the moment, who are commited to Hopkins. just hopkins and just at the moment. that doesnt include their large group of sophomores who are absolutley dirty and their upper classman going to other schools besides hopkins
