Help with exporting from FCE?

newb question: So I just got FCE and its working well, but I'm a little lost on the exporting. The problem is that there are a bunch of little lines in the exported vid. it seems like no matter what settings i use its either a small file with all the lines or a huge file without them. A lot of people say deinterlace, and I've tried, can someone explain this more?
Basically how should I export so I dont have those annoying lines in my video? I'm trying to get the best quality for uploading to vimeo and such...

ahh deinterlacing. i discovered the cure pretty recently and it made me so happy. theres actually a filter for it, at least in FC-Studio, so i dont see why it wouldnt be in Express. what you want to do is highlight a video clip on the timeline bar and pull down the filter menu, and under Video (i think, if not there its under Other) and there'll be a deinterlace option. i never messed with the different kinds of deinterlace, i just highlighted all the clips on the timeline bar and slapped the deinterlace filter on it. worked like a charm

one more question: the deinterlace filter worked for everything but some transitions like additive dissolve and some white text on black and such which still has lines even with the filter... any idea how to fix this?

go into the sequence tab, and set the field dominance to "none"
