New Zealand Skiing?

So Im trying to figure out as far as summer riding goes, is Portillo, Chile and the rest of S. America better terrain, or is NZ better? Ive heard NZ is pretty dope, but Id imagine itd be expensive as hell.

It really depends what sort of skiing you want to do. NZ has a much bigger freestyle scene but SA would probably get better pow days ect.

Way different general culture which IMO would be cool for something different

I'd say chile would have better terrain thats easily accessed, and a lot less people to compete with for fresh tracks etc. would probably be a much cooler experience as well, rather than going down the beaten track and coming here. not to say NZ isn't good, there's some awesome skiing to be had here and plenty of other things to do and see, but its just what i'd do in your situation

theres a reason the pros come to nz in the offseason..its sick

and expensive? the exchange rate works very well in your favour my friend... shit here is the same price as it is in usa...e.g a red bull is still like 2$.... but thats like 1usd, you hear?

There's Mt. Ruapehu in the north island, its pretty good value they've got cheap season passes and alot more lifts than any South Island slope. there's 2 sides to the mountain, Whakapapa and Turoa, and the pass works both sides. there's some really good terrain, average park (Turoa has the better park), the snow isn't as good as south island and the weather is more temperamental. but still a pretty cool mt. oh and the vilage is pretty small and shitty

yeah shitty vibes at ruapehu,..... not many perminants, busiest in the weekend when all the dorklanders drive down....and then it gets super busy, busiest place in nz!

man nz's all gud club fields down south cheap as chips and get sum mint powder days, only set back is u have to use a nutcraker at most of the fields but it keeps the crowds away and not as many rules like at the commercial fields u can build backcountry kickers anywhea do whteva

Any Summer ski trip is expensive

Personally I think whistler is the best place to go if you wanna just ride park...

But if its between S. AMERICA and NZ definitely S. America!

its more of an adventure and it looks like the skiings way better.

I go to NZ every year (from australia) it is sooooo sick all the resorts have park and then there is snow park which is epic and pretty cheap as well. there are hostels and shit so it can be really cheap. i went there for 2 weeks it cost me shit all and i had a great time. and the exchange rate for you guys is really good as well

NZ is sick as, we have a cool park scene and the club fields are insane! definately worth a look..

however south america would be a completely different culture and i think it has more/better snow than us so maybe for powder head there?

yeah NZ kicks arse but we're all gonna say that arent we? it is a lot of fun here, but for the full on culture/ ski experience id say chile.i know a guy who lives there and he reckons it is super super sick

I'm going in August with my team and it's about 5000$ US for a 10 day trip with airfare.

So yea not cheap but worth it.

+im heli skiing so you could take a 1000$ off for that.
