Dutch people moving to Whistler for one year, some questions.

I guess I can help you with a couple of things.
First of all Whistler itself is a party city and it's really awesome. You can get whatever you need in walking distance. Usually it's very expensive to live in Whistler, next year is gonna be the olympics so it's gonna be rediculeously fuckin expensive. You should be able to find a job easily tough. It's a really awesome city but with the olympics next year I'm really not sure it's gonna be worth it.

Why whistler? as said before, olympics will be there....

if youre into park, there are other resorts that hold up ... and if youre into Backcountry freeride, there are even better resorts i guess....

^If you're into both it's awesome though. The park is really nice, not the best but deffinitly nice and the skiing is sweet too especially on powder days.

* Is it difficult to get a "work-visa"?

* Is it difficult to find any kind of job around there, especially for foreign people? What's the best way to find a nice job?

* How hard is it to find a nice, reasonably priced appartment?

* Is it also in Canada necessary to be 21 for a lot of clubs, and which place has the most young people, Whistler itself or Vancouver. Which place has the best nightlife?

* How are the parks/ski-areas around Vancouver, comparable to Whistler parks or on another level?

* How nice is Whistler/Vancouver itself as a city?

* Are these places expensive to live?

-no, 19 is the legal drinking age. Whistler is by far the best part town around, van is alright, depends what your into. on a side note it seems like you think whislter and vancouver are closer than they are. About a 2hour car ride away. so youre going to be living in one or the other wiht occasional trips.

-i didnt find the local hills in vancouver too much to my liking. seymour is fun but yeah, whistler is all around just better.

-whistler is very nice as a town. no complaints except for constructiona nd olympics coming. van is pretty nice too, depends where you are but even the east side can be nice and cheap.

Probably much easier than getting work visa's in the Netherlands. Im going to spend this fall studying at the uva in Amsterdam and it seems like work permits are tough to get. Good luck though

Hey, I live quite close to the uva, maybe we can ski in Snowplanet if I'm still here around!

But are there people here who know some alternatives for Whistler? Help is much appreciated!
