I've got a few stories. Nothing super fancy.
I feel like this thread would be a greater success if it was titled "ski po prejudice."
Anyways. Rocking my Invaders last season (with the pink bases), I had a father come up to me and ask if I had lights on my skis because of the way the sun reflected against the bases back on to the snow. *face palm*
I've also had countless numbers of older folk on the chair lift surprised to see I skied and didn't "destroy the mountain" by boarding, as they put it.
I've had a few gnarly run ins with ski po too. A few of which I probably deserved - but this one not so much.
I was coming down the final run back to the chairlift. It was a very overcast day and consequentially, I was partially terrain blind.
I am ALWAYS conscious of my surroundings and try to slow myself to reasonable pace when entering merging trails.
Anyways, on the way down this final run, some shitty grooming towards the end caught my ski just right which caused me to look somewhat retarded. Went into my hockey stop. Costed to the lift line. No big deal right?
I hear a fucking ski po whistle behind me with this old fuck yelling as loud as he could at me. I didn't know he was talking to me until he stammered over to me and proceeded to tell me how out of control and a dangerous skier I was.
I told him to chill out and I'm being respectful so there's no reason to be otherwise towards me.
He continued to tell me I'm going "way to fast" and "highly dangerous" to the rest of the people at the resort.
I finally straight up told him I'm a terrible ass skier. Is that what you want to hear?? Here's my pass. Here's my name. Are we through here? He gave me a warning and off I went.
I tried to cut the guy some slack because people here in Az don't know how to ski for shit and he has to deal with that on the daily. Still sucks when you're judged by your appearance off the bat.
