Have you ever experienced "twin-tip prejudice?"

Yo fellow ns peeps

Just wondering if you've ever experienced "twin-tipprejudice?"

For example have you ever beenhated on for "spraying up too much snow" behind you (because of theskis design)? or have you had lift attendants complain when you separate yourskis cos they're too fat to fit in normal ski racks on gondola lifts?

Both these happened to me in a bigway over the 08/09 season ( the latter example resulted me in having a fullblown argument in French in February this year!) is it just me or is there sucha thing as "twin-tip" prejudice going on in our modern skiingsociety?

yes. but once i was taking my skis off the rack and a bunch of old ladies started completed me on how beautiful and colorful my skis were haha. i was pretty stoked

hahaha ya that happened to me too. I was on the lift and some lady looked at my anthems with the wolves on them and told they were wonderful. Then she asked me if they came like that or I had to paint that on my skis. I kinda just stopped talking after that.

True, in many resorts i cant even get my skis in the racks when separated becuz theyre too fat, so i have to take them inside, often times i get hated for that but sometimes i get compliments on my nice n colory skis (scott p4, its like a rainbowpainting :D)

luckily im not riding hellbents on those moments....

not like that because most people in CO understand the basic issues that come with riding twins...

but i did have some gaper in VA pretty much try to start a fight with me on a lift one time...he was a snowboarder (and a really, really bad one, camo hunting jacket and all) and he kept telling me how "skiers who go in the 'snowboard park' are all faggots"

well, as you can imagine, that didn't sit well with me, and i tried to remain calm and tell the guy to chill the fuck out, but he wasnt backing down. the whole lift ride up it was like this. i think he was trying to impress his girlfriend by being an aggressive psycho, which seems to be something that guys think impresses girls in some places. well she was mostly just freaked out by all of this, especially since it seemed like it was going to escalate into a serious situation and we were all hanging 50 feet in the air.

fortunately, however, i managed to hold it together and report the guy when we got to the top of the lift. i would have decked him and lost my ski pass, but i was an instructor there. i had no qualms with sneaking into that hill and skiing without a pass, but i didnt want to lose my pass and my shitty little job at the same time, so unfortunately i had to go the pussy route and tell a patroller that the guy was an assfuck who needed some adjustment.

oh yeah. some bitch at the beginning of this year kept making me take off all my shit in the lift line so she could see my head/face, because she didnt believe it was me she thought i had stolen the pass.

but i love watching the white stuff puff off my tips, when i'm riding a tow.  makes the ride so much more interested.
this one time in wisp, i was watching the snow roll off tom wallisch's tips, cause i kept on happening to ride the tow right behind him.
that was pretty epic.

I sometimes get "centermount prejudice" from like old school core tele riders on the chair and shit. Some people think I'm skiing on like 160's cuz of the short nose.  others assume I wouldn't dare go into the BC with that kind of set up.

I get shit from time to time for my Atmoic Bents and Thugs being so wide.  I have to take them inside the Gondola when I ride up at home.  The gapers usually complain......

very early in my twin tip life it was very common for twin tippers to not be allowed in terrain parks. "Snowboards only" So yeah awhile ago...Brown Vs.Board of Terrain parks ended that problem.

one "prejudice" , not sure if thats the right word, that I like is when I'm skiing alone or with one other person some people go out of their way to avoid taking the chair with you

people tell me twin tips are unsafe, especially since they think i have one i my skis on backwards (not sure how thats even possible) since i have disorederlys and one is reversed. pretty lolz.

Seriously though, I get the impression that some people think I'm a bad skier because I have weird skis, even I could most likely smoke them in anything skiing, especially older people, the like to complain.

None at all.

Although at Bear Mountain, CA after one of the lifties started yelling at me for having my home mountain season pass on the same keyring as my lift ticket, he said something along the lines of "next time you come boarding you can't do that..." I was skiing.

i've only had people complaining about my spray when they were following me, otherwise no ones ever on my ass enough to get the spray.

i think it has to do with your dress to, if you dress like a thug, you will get treated worse, if your like a big mountain twin tip skier whos super legit and is dressed all technical, no ones going to give you a hard time

hell yes at 7springs there are these guys that call them selvs saftey rangers lol all they do is raid the park and look for peeps without passes and profile you about passes everytime you go down the hill while they leave everyone else alone. and they bitch at you for doing inverts and stuff and act like you are all bad kids just cause you ski park. it pisses me off so bad

In general people with normal skis are really curious, what do I have under my feet x) When I'm starting to explain them they're stoked :D
Somethimes they're laugtinig at my baggy pants. But i don't really care.

So few people ski twins at Mt High people point at me and say "hey look he's skiing backwards, crazy guy". Haha, man I wish I was decent at skiing, if I could 540 and frontflip I would be straight up best skier on the mountain.  But no, no prejudice.  My dad rocks skiblades for fun sometimes though and lifties at Mammoth ask him if his skis shrunk in the wash a lot.  lol

I have racer prejusdice, its no big

particulars include: no so center mounted twins, race suits, and any other piece of race equipment.

I have nothing against the people, i'll still have a chat on the chair. but it just annoys me to know how much his parents spent on the ridiculous shit he is wearing, so he can go a little quicker

You can say the same thing about freestyle dude.  What's the point of wearing XXL clothes just to look cooler?  Each part of the sport has it's different styles, not everything should be just like freestyle, I like the diversity in the sport.  Racing is fucking cool dude.  It takes major balls when you get to a certain level.  The pros are reaching up to 75mph in a downhill race, that is fucking fast.  That's a mile and a quarter in a minute.  I've probably gone 50ish on skis and that is sketchy, and I have gone fifty on a bike and it is fucking fast man.  What I'm going at is, they see skiing different than you and I might, so just respect them and they will respect us.  Chances are, a lot of their money might go into big name companies developing twin tips.  See what I'm going at?  Plus, you're a fucking idiot if you mount a race ski forward.  Just like a twin tip isn't always supposed to be close to center.  Mount it where it should be mounted.

Yeah I definitely know what you mean!

It pisses me off too... its not my fault the gondola rack things aren't big enough for twin-tips...

but anyway if you wanna experience true twin-tip hate go to Mad River Glen dressed the same way you would if you were shredding the park all day.
I mean I try to be respectful... usually... but I got such dirty looks there from assholes who only ski so that they can say they got more runs than their buddy, and who think you need avalanche gear to ski in VT!

But I don't like to hate.

I though it was kind of funny actually, but there is definitely a lot of hate growing toward twin-tips...
My only advice is to play it up and make them look like assholes for making a big deal about it.

Props for the fight in French!
