Ps3 not working right/problem/advice please?

so my ps3 will turn on and load the home screen, but then when it goes to load a video game it just keeps saying loading... and then i wait and get frustrated after a bit and turn it off.

With a dvd, it goes to the home screen, and then just turns black and nothing happens.

I've had my window open all week and it's been raining daily so i was thinking maybe because of the high amount of moisture in the air it was screwing with the console so I closed the window and I'm waiting a bit to try again in case it just needed to dry out a little. (no actually water came close to even touching it tho, just the humidity in the air).


ok so has anybody experienced this before? I really can't afford to pay $100+ to send it away and get it fixed right now so hopefully that's not the case. Anyway, any help or related experienced would be appreciated, thanks guys.

Call customer support maybe and see what they say?
Otherwise it looks like youre gnna have to send it in.

ok i tried downloading the update but it said it was already fully updated. so then i went through and deleted all of the Demos i had and cancelled the demo i was in the process of downloading.

then i put in COD 5 and it worked fine, so hopefully it's good now. We'll see i guess. thanks for the suggestions guys

your going to have to send it in. you will loose all of your game data plus have to pay  around a $100

if you had a 360 you could pull off the harddrive and it would be free except for shipping. just saying... btw i have a ps3 too

this is what happend to mine. its the disc reader. which mean you will have to send it back. hopfully it keeps working otherwize, yeah i bet its what happend to mine.
