How do I get this to stand on ground? +k

Ey Newschoolers,

I found two pices of metal, looking like this:

and another one like 3 times longer then the one above.


So far so GHood, but how do I get those to stand on the ground, working as a new metal rail for my new summer setup?

Every help will be appreciated and I also have some Karma to give away!

the only way i can think of would be to weld feet on the bottom of them

so if you can weld of know someone who can, buy/find some little like 1 foot pieces of metal and weld them on the bottom

put concrete in 2 buckets

stick legs into respective concrete filled buckets

let legs dry into concrete

break buckets off of concrete (maybe?)

dig holes

bury concrete

done

if you could it wouldnt be as stable. and i cant think of any ways to do it with wood.

You might be able to weld other pieces of metal to the stands so it is more stable. You might also be able to just bury it in the dirt so it is stable. Another weird idea is to get some wood and square shaped holes in it for the stands to go in, its pretty much the same idea as welding except not as much work

This is the safest and best method IMO

the only problem is that I cant dig holes into my backyard cuz my parents would tell me some storys then if you know what I mean..

Yea, and what I also wanted to know is if those 'normal' pices of metal will slide well?

Cause they arent rounded down on the edges

yeah they will. they will be easier to stay on too because of the flat edges. more stable under foot

If you get yourself some steel drill bits, you could drill and bolt a pair of 2x4s to each side of the leg, and then screw those onto whatever feet you feel like using. It'd be cheap, easy, and extremely stable.

ns needs paint in the response window. Make wooden legs with a square space in the middle of the leg that is the same size as the metal legs. Slide metal legs into wooden legs and it should work. Does this make sense?

actually for me it does make sense, but I just talked to my dad and he said that welding some pices of metal at the bottom shouldnt be a problem.

I think I'm going to do it like this, even so thanks for all the responses.  10/10 Karma

You could just stick the rail into the ground, and then put sandbags around the supports. Or just get some 2 by 8's and cut holes the size of the rail supports and put a bunch of them around the supports, then make crossbeams.. Sort of confusing but good luck building

you should get 2 three foot pieces of metal and then weld them on to the rail that you found. it would make your rail very stable

Yea thats what I thought about first, but I am not allowed to do that in my backyard.

But its fine now, cuz my dad is going to help me welding some pices of metal to the bottom soon when hes got some time.

don't forget to smooth the top of the rail by just running you ski over it, using it as a file sorta. also wax it with some skate wax. you can but it at skating stores haha
