Mopeds

i have a 2009 honda metropolitan and love it! they max out at around 40mph, but it's not a big deal especially just for putting around campus.

Anyone that says mopeds are dumb is just jealous.  It is the most fun, easiest, and cheapest way to get around for sure.

I just recently bought a 1984 Puch Maxi. Just for the record, what most of you guys are talking about are motor scooters. A moped is something you actually have to pedal to start, and usually is 50cc. If your looking into this stuff, check the motorcycle laws in your area. I know here in Utah, anything over 50cc you need a motorcycle license, registration, insurance, etc. I'm pretty sure it's similar in most parts of the country. I went for a 49cc moped so I wouldn't have to deal with all that. The thing runs great, tops out at just over 30 on the flats, and I haven't had to refill the tank once (had it for two weeks now, I think? maybe a little longer). Here in SLC, you see plenty of people riding around on their Vespas and Hondas and Yamahas and whoever else makes motor scooters, but mine is the only moped I've seen. One advantage, like someone said earlier, is that yes, you can park at bike racks, but you better get a good lock, because you don't need a key to start a moped.

Actually, that's not totally true.  Every state has different laws for what a "moped" is.  Like here in Michigan it has to be under 50cc, cant go over 25, and you have to be able to step through it.  The only advantage to having a moped is you can get a moped sticker which means you can park at bike racks, dont need insurance, etc...  They'll give those stickers to anything scooter though so it doesnt really matter.

Look into the Yamaha Vino or the Honda Metropolitan they are both japanese engines but euro styling, very similar aperance to vespa's but cheaper and easier to get fixed.

i have a puch maxi that i use to get to class and to parties and shit around campus its pretty sick i just treat it like a bicycle. also pretty fun to ride wasted

get a honda ruckus they get the best gas mileage can go offraod and the look gnarly

get a zuma or a ruckus, rukus they make a shit load of part to make em bad ass you could stretch em and lower em and shit ive seen some pretty cool ones, also zumas are nice my buddy has one but hes got some stuff done to it and it rips pretty good

The one I posted was my first revision about halfway through putting it together. That one jumped the wheel and took out all the pegs with me on it going about 35. Got some nasty road rash from that.
