ZIP DRIVE HELP!!!!!!!!! +K for first answer that works....
Okay, I made a Keynote (Mac version of Powerpoint) presentation for my AP US History class. I transferred it onto a Lexar Drive (small, portable, USB drive) and took it to school. When I tried to open it on multiple school computers, it said something about an "alias" problem and it would not open. I need to solve this problem by tomorrow morning so I can present. Anybody know what is wrong?
The external drive connected fine, but when I clicked on the title of the presentation it wouldn't work. "Alias" problem or something? The presentation was made in KEYNOTE on a Mac and should be compatible with ANY KEYNOTE....
when you save the presentation, save it as the oldest version of keynotes. Like if the file format is different and the school computers have an older version than the newer file wont open in the old program.
^Sorry, I guess I don't have the EXACT terminology. I guess I was kind of stupid for thinking people might be able to figure out what I really meant from the context.
It is a Lexar memory stick thing device that allows me to take files from a computer and use and upload them to a new, different computer.
export it as a PPT or a PDF and see if you can open it that way. It seems weird to go to PPT but keynote can open them. PDF would work if you don't need to edit it. Or just copy and past the text into a word document and re create the presentation on your school computer, if its not too much of a hastle.
THAT actually makes sense, I think that was what happened. I fixed everything and presented today so no longer need this thread. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THAT HELPED.
maybe your mac version of powerpoint was only compatible with mac and wont work on other computers? i dont know just a guess i wouldnt know how to fix it either.
