It's part of life, everyone has to deal with dishonesty every day, and in every business. It happens, so shut up. And as for that idea, my friend did this at my local mountain two years ago, well he was more of an acquantance than a friend, but still, it was the first comp at our mountain, and it was such a hit, that they've been having them ever since. That year there was just the one comp, then the next year 2 or 3, and now this year there is going to be like 6 or 7.

First of all, your attitude sucks, and secondly, you should think about who you're talking to before you beak off. Jodi's right. There are some of us who actually do give back to the mountains that hook us up with things. When the mountain gets scammed, they lose trust, and make it harder for legitimate industry people to operate. So, in the end you're hurting yourself and the rest of us, much like people who sue ski resorts when they overshoot a table and bust themselves.

thank you for seeing my orignal point b-wald. I too don't like to see mountains get canned out of lodging and lft tickets and such. it happened here 2 or 3 years ago. som 'pros' came who were shooting a vid. they did nothing with the footage and i showed them up in the slopestyle comp just for spite

There is mountains like whistler/blue in ontario mtn creek in jersey, and other really prolific places who could easily say 'Thanks for your interest in our mountain, but you know were owned by intrawest, so we'll make you pay to promote our mountain' It could be very easy for them to do that. But from my experience, Jodi at Blue, Amanda at Mtn Creek, and everyone in the marketing department were more then welcoming to try and help out up and coming film producers. These people at these mountains are to be comended.... there doing more the sport then people like aoe. and B-wald know

^ I know what these people do for the sport. Its definatly hard for film companies to shoot a legit film if there paying out the wazoo everwhere they go. overhead costs soar and then the project goes down the drain. I was never planning to scam my mountain, there was a totally different point to what i was doing. I just think that as soon as jodi read it she automatically assumed that it was related to one of her past experiences and took that view. thats not it at all, and i totally agree that its wrong to mooche of the willingness of skiresorts. Thats not what i'm trying to do and frankly i think people who take advantage of ski resorts like that are taking money away from the locals which are the most important part of a ski resort, especially here where tourism isnt spectacularly high. I know how these 'film companies' take money away from the resorts because they have done it here before, the mountain is willing to throw out lift tickets and lodging on site in the condos, host a comp and be guides, and what do these companies do with the films...not a damn think. I can think of one company of hand but i dont want to name names. All im trying to do is restore the balance and get some comps for the locals. Its pretty sad when you have to be an out of town company to do this but its the sad reality that our hill would rather throw money at tourists then the locals. They arn't even willing to organize comps for local film companies. so yeah thats my rant. I was never trying to con my mountain of of money, basically i want to do the opposite of wehat these companies do, unfortunatly i have to take the same approach because simply asking for a comp around here wont get it done...locals are at the bottom of the barrel. Sorry to anyone who took this differently and though i was just out for a freebie at my mountains expense.

You have to remmber that people like Jodi and nate ACUALLY work at a resort, where they have to deal with REAL money, this is the real world, screwing a company is not cool, unless you are too pose as a company and pay for everything up front, and pay everything in full to start a competion

why not just go talk to them about having a compitition instead of trying to get one the hard and dishonest way. If you put a plan together with valid points and ways for them to make money threw sponsers, banner ads, bringing people to the mountain and proposed a good plan for the compition like whos judging how its going to be set up and stuff like that im sure they would listen

Imagine this If you will. You own your own restraunt, and a critic comes in and him and his friends order$100 dollars worth of food. You did it for free. Later you find out he wasn't a critic, rather he was just a scam artist. You are then out $100. Basically what your suggesting is being the fake critic, supposedely provinding a promotion for the mountain that your not

Im NOT trying to scam the mountain. and ~Pete~ thanks for the suggestion but been there done that. as i say im desperate. and scratchcobra66, how the fuck do you know how smart I am? do you know me? hell have you even heard any of my other ideas? as I said this is the only thing i can think of and im obviously smarter then you think because they have already responded to my email, something that never happened when i had sent them emails before. and like i said im not trying to scam anyone. im not trying to get anything free, and i am willing to pay for my share of the comp so you shouldn't type whats on your mind before you know the facts. this is just something to motivate them.

Okay, you say 'been there, done that' for doing it the legitimate way, and it didn't work for you. But, when you posed as a filming company, they listened... Here's an idea for the future. Rather than risking the resort's trust, why not actually organize a good event, contact the proper media personelle (i.e. production company / magazine etc.), put together a strong proposal like ~pete~ and a couple other ppl said above, and present it to the mountain? If you've tried this before and it didn't work, it's because you didn't do your homework, and the PROFESSIONALS didn't see it as a worthwhile business manouvre. You're probably right that it would be good for the mountain, you just have to prove it to them first so they understand and maintain their trust in us. Sound fair?
