i practice Kendo and MMA with a SWAT officer and he showed up after getting shot once and through kevlar he had a bruise the size of my fist.  that guy ended up with a needle prick and says his badge stopped the bullet.  so stupid.  no cheap badge could stop a bullet.

I watched this show last night and they just drive around the antarctic putting ropes in front of the whale ships so the rope gets caught in the prop of the ship and the Japs are fucked

Can't really drive 5000 miles back to Japan with a fucking Jammed prop.

BUT YEA JUST A BUNCH OF PISSED OFF HIPPIES.

I actually got pretty hooked on this show.  I watched a lot of it on demand since it's been so boring lately.  It does get pretty intense.  It was pretty sad seeing the Japs kill a whale.  I just felt so bad, it was almost like watching a dog get killed.

This was on a couple months ago. These guys are fucking insane. Half of its bull shit though. Like the Captain getting shot? That happened last season and you could just TELL it was bullshit. He was shot in the chest i think and was just like. Oh, will you look at that... I was shot in the chest. And they only showed about one frame of the actual wound.

the point is, this show was highly disappointing after i spent an hour watching commercials and just the drama of getting to the area where the japs were. so i'd have to just watch the season finale episode to know what happens?

aside from that, biased or not, i believe that they are right when pointing out that in 1982 commercial whaling was made illegal, and therefore the japanese are claiming that they are hunting for research,  but i'm sorry, there's no f-ing way you need 10 dead bus sized whales to do research. no. i have to call bullshit on that research.

what are you talking about?  The only way they will ever bring real change to the situation is by making it well known throughout the world and the best means to do so is by working with the mainstream media.  I think Watson is a fucking manipulative asshole, but he does understand how to use the media to help out their cause. 

How effective do you really think their "missions" really are?  Sailing around throwing butyric acid and playing chicken with them is only going to annoy them, but not stop them.

The only way to succeed in preventing whaling in on an political level.  And hopefully it comes to that, cause whaling is fucking bullshit and the Japanese know it.  But money makes the world go round.

And a real group should kill people?  That would really go over well.  Either the JMSDF would just send out a warship with the fleet to sink the Steve Irwin, or the Australians would basically need to come out and have them all arrested/sink the ship.  Either way, if those guys starting killing the Japanese whalers, they would get fucked very, very quickly.

I love this show. 40+ people on a boat where only 3 of them have any maritime experience. It's a true testament to the ignorance of hardcore activists. Steph, a friend of mine, use to work with groups like these. She left because of most groups' inability to use methods outside their narrow views. Most of these groups feel that if they fail 100 times doing the same thing, the next try might just prove successful. Gambling addicts have the same problem.

time to revive a dead thread.  i talked with my dad who was a captain of a Merchant ship for 15 years and was on a merchant ship for a total of 38 years.  and he says they are breaking a ton of maritime laws and the whole "prop fouler" thing, that rope couldnt do shit because his ship could cut through 3 inch STEEL wire.

936 foot ship, 104,000 tons...  im pretty sure i know what my dad is talking about.

Hahaha, I love Whale Wars. I've seen every episode so far.

Anyways, they have NOTHING to do with Greenpeace. The captain, Paul Watson was/I guess is a co-founder of Greenpeace, but he got voted out of the group, so he is no longer affiliated with them. They 'voted' (kicked) him out because he was too aggressive, which is why he made Sea Shepards himself. In one episode they actually called a Greenpeace ship for help and they hung up on them.

I understand why they are doing what they're doing, and I respect that they are going out and doing something about a cause they are very obviously passionate about, but I just wish they would be a bit smarter about it. Some of the things on the show just make me shake my head, and wonder how people haven't died yet. Anyone see the episode last season when they deployed the Zodiac wrong and it tipped? Yeah..

i watched it on tv and it was the lamest shit. i agree with their cause, but its a bunch a pussy hippy bitches that dont know shit about the sea. they almost died lowering the boat, then members got lost because they didnt know how to read a compass. it was so dumb.

the thing i cant stand about this show is how utterly incompetent the so called sea shepherds are. they have no business being on a boat. The episode i saw showed them trying to lower a zodiac into the water to chase a japanese ship. takes them like 20 minutes to do so and the whole time they're bitching about "heavy seas." they had a stern and bow line to control how it swings on the crane, yet they still manage to hit the mothership many many times. when they finally get the boat in the water, they promptly head off on the wrong heading. seriously? like really? first, if the mothership in on a chase course, just go straight as soon as you hit the water. second, the zodiac has a compass. use it! these fucking people dont know anything about the environment or energy, much less how to properly, safely, and efficiently operate a ship. I hope they get boarded by somali pirates.

I will be honest... I like animals, hell, I love animals. I was going to school originally to become a veterinarian. But goddamn this show is SO funny. My dad was a merchant ship captain for close to 20 years and was a King's Point Merchant Marine Academy graduate in 1961 and with his insight on the "rules of the roads" and talking about the ice rating on the ships makes this show so damn funny. They literally are taking a ship that is designed for driving around the Caribbean in calm seas down to Antartica and try to break ice with it.

After watching 'the pacific'... I think it'll take a bit more then some stink bombs and rope to stop the Japanese.... I saw one episode last season when the japanese had this crazy fucking noise weapon thing that just emitted white noise or something that fucked up the whale wars heli pilot.... WTF!!
