i love my mac. no complaints, no problems, no nothing. works for any major or skill level...
i upgraded to the new MBPro and gave my grandma my old one and she effing made that thing her bitch. but seriously there is nothing to hate about a mac.

lets look at a magical iMac 20 inch

2gbs of ddr3 ram, its fast cause its ddr3, but its only 2 gb, soooo it actualy really really sucks.

320gb hard drive.... omg no wayyyyyy, thats a tiny amount of space and it sucks.

2.66ghz dual core processor!!! like super waaaa amazing fast. it sucks.

NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics, they put this in laptops, it doesnt even have dedicated memory. it sucks. really really really badly.

A mighty mouse!!! 2nd button not included. it sucks.

All tucked into a nice looking 20 inch monitor. This part doesn't suck beacuse they really are quite cool looking.

all that for only 1199$

now for a crappy Dell Studio XPS Desktop

its got 6gb of ddr3 ram, its fast cause its ddr3, but its 6gb, so if your really bad at math that means its got 3 times the amount of the mac.

750gb hard drive. thats over double the size of the macs.

core fucking i7 processor... Thats a QUAD core 2.66ghz processor, sooo that means its double the power of the mac!

ATI Radeon HD 4670 512Mb, its really not that nice, buttttt its got 512 of DEDICATED memory, and it blows away the mac.

and a 24inch monitor. thats 4 inches biggger.

but its pretty ugly.

all that for 1279$

sooooo with that all said, if you are sitting at an iMac now you should cry yourself to sleep.
and macs suck really really badly.

macs are for dumbasses that only use the programs that it comes with it and want do download everything without worrying about viruses. PCs are used for people who dont just use their computer to dick around, why do you think that like every business in the world uses pcs

Some people buy a computer for looks, some buy one for price.  Some buy it one for ease of use, some buy one for the software variety.  In the end, who cares?  Can we stop arguing about it?

Different strokes for different folks is all I can say.

i never have to defrag - my pc does it for me while i sleep
my computer doesnt lag - neither does mine
it looks good - so does mine
it works perfectly after 3 years(i've been using them since 04) - so does mine, plus i can count.
updates are less annoying, take less time to dl, in my experience. - i have absolutely no problems with updates
multitasking is easy as shit - same on my computer! i am right now!
keyboard shortcuts galore - keyboard shortcuts can be set by the user on any computer... nice one
they're light  and thin - there are pc that are some of the thinnest and lightest computers on the market, thinner than the Macbook air
if you dont wan't to spend 3000$ you can buy a cheaper one for about half the price. - and half the quality,
the whole layout is more aesthetically pleasing. - who gives a shit
i find vista and all new windows programs completely difficult to use and their new  appearances horrible and confusing. - their programs arent difficult to use and it doesnt look horrible and its not confusing, your just used to a mac and dont know the ins and outs of a pc, i feel the same way about a mac because i dont use one
great for dling music/videos, use azureus - i've download over 55gig of music on my pc laptop with Utorrent.
everything in a mac is made by mac, so there's less problems - and less room for improvement. i dont have any problems and with upgrades of components that are better than stock, the computer is infact better, and still cheaper than a mac
it's also not supposed to crash very rarely will it ever - if your not an idiot neither will a pc
their new chargers are great because they're magnets, so if you walk on your wire your laptop wont come flying off the desk. - once again lazy and careless. pick up your dam feet. my wire pulls out easy from my laptop anyway.

I end up using non-macs and macs a shitton for arch school, and while I don't have really any true gripes with macs, I find my buff as shit hp, or the school computer I'm on at the moment, to be quite a bit better and streamlined for the kind of shit I need to do.
One of the main reasons is simply cost. Many of the people in my studio have macbooks and macbook pros, and dropped over 2 grand on something that is adequate, but... 2 grand, more in some cases. I spent less than half for my desktop and am bustin out renderings and fat presentations with whatever I feel like with far more ease, options, and quality because I have way more hardware to run that shit. To reitorate, I spent less than half.
Plus I find non-macs to be FAR more easy to navigate. SOme of the little things that macs do for navigation piss me off, especially in the midst of a routine all nighter.
Whatever though, I'm not a mac hater since I use them a lot, but damn I prefer something other than a mac in most cases.

I got a mac for the software, not the specs, so windows lovers who are like omg my stats are better! Don't care, macs software is 10000 times better, well worth the money.

So uh.. I'm just gonna say I skimmed through this thread, and I'm posting without thoroughly analyzing everything people said.

Also, I'm not saying Macs suck or that one is better than the other, this is just for all the high and mighty Mac users that think their machines are superior.

-My PC has never gotten a malicious virus that I can't fix in two seconds, and I run no security software.
-My PC is much faster than any Mac I have used, no contest.
-After customizing Vista, the 64 bit Vista, I like it very much, gives me no BS.
-My HP looks stunning, much sexier than asexual looking Macs.
-Multitasking is a breeze, I have four programs running right now and no lag.
-This thing is durable, dropped it many times and it keeps on trucking.
-Built in camera, microphones, wireless, anything you could ask for.
-My interface is very user friendly the way I have it set up.
-Amazing sound quality on the built in speakers.
-Touchpad for media controls works flawlessly.
-Internet browsing is super fast and easy with firefox + custom programs.
-Great hardware, efficent, runs almost any game I install flawlessly, loads of extra CPU power.
-Great display/effects/sound quality.

I have used Macs and I prefer my PC. They just generally have more computing power and if you aren't technologically challenged they are easy to use without problems.

Macs and PCs both have their benefits and flaws, but I dislike the half of Mac users that like to think they have superior machines, but don't know why.

mac is the shit, but all the crap about not getting viruses and stuff is bullshit. My macbook just crashed and i needed to re-boot it, and now its super slow because i have so littel space left

but comperd to if i had a PC its lasted way longer, much less viruses, easyer to use and looks fucking great

and you are a hypocrite. if things like he thinks his interface is easy is opinion, then same when you say macs interface is easy. so there for that argument is not valid for either side, as well as all the other opinion ones

and i dont see how those other ones are funny, or things are unlikely. i havent gotten any viruses that i couldnt fix, and i have great sound, a lot better sound then any mac i have used. much better places speaker and great sound... i dont see your argument, your just ignorant.

Actually it is stock out of the box. I just upgraded a few things like going from 1GB of RAM to 2, and a 250GB HD instead of 120.

I might be one of those 'hardcore' people you speak of, but I don't hate Macs.

I don't think they look cooler, but looks are personal preference, they seem to be good for editing video, but other than that I can't find much use for one.

You say that a Mac is more 'fun'.

Well personally taking photos with a built in camera isn't that exhilarating, but gaming seems to be where it's at for fun on computers.

That being said from my perspective, Macs suck for gaming. There's nothing you can say or do to change this.

Go play some Jibberish if you feel different about this...oh wait... you can't.

I would say i am pretty tech savvy, yes, but i know people that can do a lot more than i can.

But i dont think i have any viruses/spyware that im unaware of. and hell, if i do they shouldnt be considered spyware/viruses because my computer runs fine, i have not gotten any weird messages and no one has found my information or anything like that. if i have spyware or viruses right now, well then i dont really care, i can live with it, because there is absolutly nothing wrong with my computer

btw the mac/pc debate wont ever be settled. I like macs much better, but that is because my father is a  mac developer so i've only really used PCs at school and at other people's houses and i dont know them as well (by any means) as i do macs. Ive just used macs my whole life, but im not going to make fun of PC users.

I just like macs because they are familiar to me and i know how to use them far better.

i will say this, i'm a pc user and i'll agree with her that vista isn't as easy to use as xp. for example, in vista they renamed a bunch of file locations (i.e. my documents, my shared documents, network connections, etc.) which makes it a lot more difficult if you're used to xp. you can't find your fucking files and shit. in fact, i'll probably stick with xp even after 7 comes out.

i was waiting for someone to say something along those lines.

honestly i dont care what ppl say. we can all mac bash and call PCs stupid until we turn blue in the face. its just personal preference.

if someone asks me what computer to get, and money is not a big issue/factor, i tell them mac. then i help them further decide because i know much more about mac computers. that's just my preference and opinion. my friend has a sick dell PC that he loves. its nice and all, but just not for me.

oh well.

Hm. Zero problems with Firefox. I run it with ABP (but disabled on NS so NS still profits), and Chainlove and SAC notification toolbars. I never have issues with it closing randomly and the loadtimes at both startup and for individual webpages is far superior to what I have experienced with IE.
