Over on TGR I saw a guy who with his gps could track all the runs he did like this:
He saves his tracks to his computer in GPX format which is the universal GPS format which most GPS's use. THen with his computer he opens them on google earth by going File -> open and finding them.
I asked him what GPS he uses and this was his reply:
i'm using a Garmin etrex Venture HC, which is a small handheld GPS. it's about the size
of my cell phone, probably twice as thick. it comes with software called MapSource,
which allows you to upload tracks from the GPS to the computer. once you upload them
to the MapSource software, you can choose an option to view your tracks on Google
Earth.
So I am looking for a small handheld GPS to use for this (among other things probably) I was
wondering if anyone knew anything about GPS and knows if there is one better then the Garmin
etrex venture HC or if I should just go with it. Must be small enough to comfortably put in my
ski jacket.
Thanks a lot. (and whoever can figure out what ski resort that picture is from gets a cookie)
