Who is dropping them poles next season?

I started going poleless with my back yard set up, and tell you what it is amazing. i feel way better with out those things getting in my way. So next season my plan is to snap those f-ckers in half and never get a pair again. Whose with me!?

Me too, i find that without poles, i concentrate less on what my hands are doing, and more on what my feet are doing.

I'll drop my poles for a few runs sometimes when it just seems fun and I want to fail miserably at some hand drag attempts, but mosty I use them.  They help, they look better, you can hit people with them, you can defend against snowballs with them, you can push with them, and on slushy days I think they help for pushing up to rails.

This last season was my second season and I used my poles about half the time rather than the full season. I actually really enjoyed it and really liked the feel, but I liked having them in deeper powder...

Nope.

No poles still looks retarded IMO unless youre dope at rails. It looks worse on jumps, and terrible in pow.

Ive skiied 10 years poleless, nothing new. I never saw a real point, and I figured if you can wedge clean turns, spins, lines, whatever without help from your arms, it makes you a stronger skiier

on my yard set up I often don't use poles but no poles doesn't work for me on snow.

i find that skiing without poles just makes you a stronger skier. riding no poles and skiing clean really forces your core to control your balance much more than with um. when you first start, its really hard to stay clean, but once you get used to it they really seem pointless everywhere except the BC or mogul fields. It changes the way you ride though for sure thou.

i completely agree, even skiing trees or moguls without poles really forces you to really stay on top of your shit. then when you make the transition back you ski better. i most always use poles though, i will drop them occasionally but not too often.

I dropped my poles at the end of the season. Obviously without poles grabs, hand drags, hand plants and skiing switch become so much easier and more fun. And honestly I think poles looks kinda weird when you're skiing a lot of park, or doing tricks in powder.

And for all the people cutting their poles so short that they need to crouch/bend over to actually touch the ground with them, I think that's stupid. If your poles are way too short, why use them at all?

I just feel more on point with out them. feel cleaner, i use to do the whole ski race thing back in the day and we had to race with out poles to get better. so it isnt really any new to me, i just forgot how sweet it is with out them.

You ski better with poles than without poles... so not using them is solely a style things and will almost guarantee that you will ski worse, especially when it comes to anything out of the park.

I always thought that riding without pole suck but this year I got a broken thumb so I ride 2 month without pole and OMG!! I was like: why did I not drop pole earlier! so now It's depend of how I feel if I take my pole or not!

I dropped them last season and have not even thought about them again. Having your hands free feels so much smoother and way more fun in pow, being able to drag your hands through deep turns etc.

I no-poled for a season, it was fun but I got bored of it after a while. I generally prefer having my poles now. If its a shitty early season day and there is nothing to do, I'll drop the poles. It has to be pretty damn bad though if I'm going to drop my poles. Or if I'm coaching. But then all my kids started no-poling and it was a disaster because none of them could ski without them hahaha.

I find I ski better everywhere with them, so I like to have them.

It kind of depends on the person, some people can do it forever, and some prefer having them. I also find it makes my takeoffs better on jumps, by putting my weight a little further forward.

Pole or no-pole, do what you like, its all about having fun.

I am actually going to pick up some poles for my local hill. It sorta sucks because we are all tow ropes and it is harder to have poles.

I was a snowboarder before I was a skier... so I always hated using poles because I was so use to having my hands free.

There is all that talk about "looking gay" without using poles. I think it's more "gay" that people feel the need to use them JUST because they're afraid they'll look "gay" without them.

Who cares whether you use them or you don't? It's all personal preference! As long as you're out there having a good time and you're doing what's most comfortable for you!
