no, my terminology was not incorrect.
I was talking about percentage.
It does mean that a higher percentage are employed.
its an either or statistic, either your employed or your unemployed. the total has to equal 100% so if a lower % are unemployed that means a higher % are employed.

there are also far more female strippers than men... that's one thing women have on men- as long as they aren't hideously ugly, they can make bank taking off their clothes. seriously, i personally know at least a dozen strippers, only one of them is a dude, and probably half the girls didn't start dancing until the economy hit the shitter.

i would wager that the only reason the unemployment rate here in Vegas is lower for women than for men is because of the adult entertainment industry here.

you live in Vegas dude. Who lives in Vegas and does not know a stripper?

While there are a lot of strippers across the U.S. I don't think it is a big enough industry to account for over a 2% difference in unemployment. There are plenty of mainly male jobs too, Most construction workers are male for example, almost all (if not all) combat soldiers are male.

Technically there is also the not in the labor force statistic (students, soldiers, etc.). But unemployment is just measured by those that are in the labor force (employed + unemployed). Just clarifying.

i've only lived here for 8 months and the only time i've been to a strip club since moving here was when Drew came to visit me three months ago... and i've met the majority of them since he was out here. meeting that many strippers that quickly, all but two independently of each other, is pretty good in my book.

my point, though, was that women have the option of taking off their clothes for money, DEFINITELY accounting for the difference in unemployment rates between men and women in Clark County. this town employs tens of thousands of strippers every year, the vast majority of which are women... in a city with a population of just a couple million, that's a sizable percentage.

on top of that, my post was slightly tongue-in-cheek, just like 99% of the things i post on here.

at least most of you aren't architects or in the construction industry. 18% unemployment rate. It was over 21% last month. It went up 8% in January.

the only type of unemployment that actually matters is cyclical so therefore those numbers are skewed.
women have an easier time finding "recession proof" jobs (ie: hairdresser, secretary, nurse etc.) whereas men who normally hold higher positions are having a tough time holding on.

The unemployment statistics release are always lower than they really are. When finding the overall unemployment rate, they count people who have part-time jobs as full time jobs. So there are people who are counted as "employed" but may only work a handful of hours a week, not even coming CLOSE to making a living.
