Obama Booed at Notre Dame

Did anyone else hear/see this on the news?
Obama gave the commencement speech at Notre Dame today and was actually booed while giving his speech. Not just by a few people, but like a lot, enough that he could not speak over them. He just let them boo and stood there till they were done. sorry i dont have any videos right now, there will be some later if anyone finds.

Now whether your a republican or a democrat, thats just fucked up. Hes our nations president. And the main reasons they were booing is because of his ideas for abortion and stem cell research. who the fuck cares? your kid just graduated college, what the fuck does it matter if the man giving a speech on one of the greatest days in your life (as a parent) has different religious views than you? plus, hes the one running this shit.

Right, but a very Catholic school decided to give him an honorary degree. Let's just say his views on most issues aren't very conservative. I can see why people who sent their kids there would be pissed if they were strict Catholics.

but i mean, why the hell did they have him speak in the first place then? why did such a catholic school say "hey, lets get some really powerful guy that goes against the popular beliefs of this university to talk at graduation!!!"

this is one of those things it was all Obama's fault but just cause they asked doesnt mean you HAVE to say yes.  yes, Notre Dame asking was the first mistake.  him saying yes was the second.  he should have thought about it a little and realized that he probably wouldnt be appreciated by the very conservative and strict catholics at the school.

He's fresh into office, but he's almost past the period in his 4 year term that he will get anything done. The majority of bills passed and policies put into effect are done so within the first three months of a President's term.

Well, i dont think it was a mistake on Obamas part. Of course he knew people would dissagree. do you all just go run away from your conflicts? he fucking stood infront of a very large crowd and took the shit these people ahd to offer. like in super troopers, where he bites the soap to rub it in

And they were not booing him necissarily because they think hes a shitty pres. They were doing it because of his views on abortion and stem cell research mostly. There were protests going on about it being murder right outside the speach. it wasnt like hes not doing a good job, it was just a different view on abortion and life... which makes it worse

While a little immature, it was a exercise in free speech. also, i would never want Obama to speak at my school after the way he treated his Georgetown University talk, in which he made them cover up IHS on a pediment in the school where he gave his speech. IHS is a monogram for jesus, and for hundreds of years, a symbol of the Society of Jesus, otherwise known as the Jesuits. To think that Obama would have the nerve to ask this symbol be blacked out, a symbol of his God no less, is unspeakable. That Georgetown actually complied is a whole other matter....
Flip that situation around. When Pope Benedict came to DC this past year, did he ask for the symbols of the US to be covered up during the mass? No. And frankly, the Pope is a more influential figure than the President. His audience, community, those loyal to him, what have you, is significantly larger, the history and legacy of the Papal Office much more illustrious.
Obama was booed. He has controversial policies and politics. The two usually go hand in hand. Deal with it.

do i really have to go in depth with everything thats been talked about already on this site a billion times? no im not gonna bring up every single thought and point that ive already written on other threads. and really if you can't tell that bush was retarded then you need to have your brain examined. the reason i told him to fuck off is because his comment was ignorant enough to deserve a comment like that and he was being a douchebag.

o fuck the honorary degree BS. it doesnt mean anything. every single graduation gives an honorary degree to their speaker. i just went to both my brothers grads this weekend and saw this first hand.

And i dont think he wouldnt earn it just because he is for choice and stem cells. i mean lots of people get honorary degrees for a lot stupider shit

Me calling you out isn't any better than what you said, I'm just really fucking sick of people saying stupid things about politics and not backing them up. It's like asking a 10 year old why they did something and them replying "because!" Maybe you do have some valid opinions and arguments, but it doesn't show with what you posted up there. People will always be bad-mouthing our Presidents, and it's great that you can stand up for what you believe. ooo, yeah dude the honorary degree is like a sign of respect, and like they are honored to write down their name in their big book of graduated from the university or something like that.

i mean it doesnt just go to joe schmo, but like the lady who created Teach For America was the speaker at my brothers and got one, and the guy who created the Human Genome project got one aat my other brothers.

You guys are idiots. The reason he got booed, is because he publically ripped Notre Dame's football program 2 weeks ago. Its not like they booed him because they think he is doing a shitty job. But its a football school and doesnt take that lightly.

IMO i think i would boo as well. Not only do i disagree 95% of what obama says, but I'd be pissed that any president would come speak at my graduation and have the limelight stolen from us. The media was just focused on the sole speech and not the class.

EVERY graduation has a commencement speaker, both my brothers graduated from college and grad school and both had commencement speakers. he was not stealing the limelight, they invited him to speak, as did every other school around the country. if he didnt speak, the media would not have focused on notre dame at all. your just a ignorant peice of shit

its tradition to invite a newly inaugurated presidents to give the graduation speech the year he's sworn in, jenkins (president of the university) was just following tradition and the school lost over 15 million dollars because of it

its because its notre dame tradtion for the new president to speak at the commencement. Bush spoke there in 2001, and he's not catholic either.

he got booed because hees gona screw the country over by kissing every1s ass and not sticking up for out country military wise. we recently caught the person in charge of 9/11 and were waterboarding him to get answers out of him and he released info on a near future plot to crash a jet into a few buildings in LA. this plot was taken care of saving thousands of lives and saving our country from alot of problems again. obamas putting on trial the people who were questioning the terrorist leader for waterboarding him because he thinks it was unnecessary. obamas a fuck up lil kid... i hope in all honesty that he gets removed from office with his whole administration or shot. id rather him die than thousands more.
