I Need ROAD Bike

so i broke my leg in December and could not ski all season and now that it is mostly healed, i need a good road bike to use to get my leg strong again for the football season. so anyone know of any good road bikes that aren't ridiculously expensive?

just look at ur favroite mountain bike companys the usally got good roadbikes to .... id go maybe specilized or jamis

cragislist. You can get a sick 70s or 80s bike for under 200. Otherwise look at the trek 1000, specialized allez, or devinci SILVERSTONE SL 1. I think thats the lowest model.

I have a devinci chicane, and i got it for around 400 becuase it was overstock.

Think about fixed gear too, they'll get you in shape fast. I'm buidling one right now.

Fixies are fun, and great for commuting, but I wouldn't recommend one if you want to heal your leg.

if you want serious high end then cervello is dope but just for rehab and casual riding check out some trek or cannondale road bikes, they make decent cheap ones

ok. bike buying --> bang for your buck: go to bike shop and get them to set you up in something used. talk to them and they'll recommend something appropriate for your use and price range (and it'll be twice as nice as anything you buy new for the same price).

shop around at different shops, and if you don't find anything there TALK TO THEM TO LEARN BRANDS AND FORM OPINIONS. Then you'll be properly educated to pursue deals online/ craigslist/ pinkbike, wherever.

also, if you're looking to build up your leg muscles I would definitely look into getting a fixed gear (please, no "anti-hipster hate" here). Put brake(s) on it so you won't wreck yourself on a car, or your legs from skidding. The resistance and constant pedaling motion will build your legs like no other freewheel bike can, and will increase "suppleness" (haha...just google fixed gear benefits).

a. if you want to heal your leg or if you aren't very good/comfortable at riding a bike then DON'T get a fixie.
b. go to your local shop and get fitted, the bike will be way more comfortable rather than a bike too big.
c. depending on how much you use the bike, don't go for any components under shimano 105. the shifters are better as well as the other moving parts of the bike.

another option is a singlespeed, not a fixie. simple, fast, fun and easy to ride.
